Dan Cook, a San Antonio sportscaster said: \u201cThe opera ain\u2019t over till the fat lady sings.” And the ”fat lady” was a takeoff on Yogi Berra\u2019s line, ”The game isn`t over till it\u2019s over.” What, who or where it came from \u2013 I think it can be applied to the election. I think the \u201cfat-lady\u201d is belting one out because it is over at last! Isn\u2019t it comforting to know that now our economy will be fixed, immigration issues will be resolved, the \u201cright to choice\u201d folks will have their way, health care for everyone and peace forevermore! So, no concerns or worries! NOT! But, based on what we know well, we don’t have to be concerned or worried because God is in control. We don\u2019t know what tomorrow holds, but we do know WHO holds tomorrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It may sound like a clich\u00e9, but I assure you \u201cGod\u2019s got this! And, it\u2019s not over!\u201d In a culture fixated on the present and ourselves it\u2019s understandable that there are many who are ecstatic about the outcome of the election, while others are disappointed and worried about the future. We are right to be concerned about our nation, but we are wrong to worry about our future: \u201cDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God\u201d (Philippians 4:6). When we do, (verse 7) \u201cthe peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus\u201d. We must remember this: Our mighty God, is in control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am so happy that my peace, well-being, and hope for tomorrow doesn\u2019t depend on what the results of an election are — and how it will affect my life. Here\u2019s what I know and what I\u2019m staking my life upon. I believe God\u2019s ways are so much higher than ours and His sovereign plans and purposes will be carried out. If we are people who live by faith, we will just keep overcoming because we know the \u201cCaptain\u201d of our ship is God — no matter \u201cthe who\u201d is in the White House, the schoolhouse, the greenhouse, House of Representatives, or a household.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of being in that \u201cI\u2019m-so-worried-about-what-our-future-holds\u201d, how about us looking at a penny and stand by those words engraved on it that say: \u201cIn God We Trust\u201d? This morning is another gorgeous day for us to say again: \u201cThis is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.\u201d Another day of God\u2019s perfect sovereignty. He will still be in charge. His throne will still be occupied. He will still manage the affairs of the world. Never has His providence depended on a king, president, or ruler. And it doesn\u2019t, this day. \u201cThe LORD can control a king\u2019s mind as he controls a river; He can direct it as He pleases.\u201d (Proverbs 21:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear Lord,
You are perfect. You cannot fail! You are God! You will accomplish your plans. You are the king, supreme ruler, and absolute monarch. No limitations, hesitations, questions, second thoughts, or backward glances. You consult no clock. You keep no calendar. You report to no one. You are in charge\u2026\u2026\u2026.and I TRUST YOU!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
