A couple of days ago I blogged about our Great Physician and being able to call on Him 24\/7 because He is ALWAYS on duty. In that blog I shared about how I learned to call on the name of Jesus when my babies or my grandbabies had a fever or cold or when I needed Him in most in any of life’s unwelcomed surprises.

When I was writing that blog, I remembered one of my “go-to” songs by Bill & Gloria Gaither. It was \u201cThere\u2019s Just Something About that Name\u201d. The words were: \u201cJesus, Jesus. Jesus. There\u2019s just something about that name. \/ Jesus, Jesus. Jesus. Like the fragrance after the rain. \/ Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Let all heaven and earth proclaim. \/ Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. But, there\u2019s something about that name.\u201d I assure you, it always brought me comfort when I sang those words. At a slight pause in the song, when they were \u201clive\u201d (we attended many of their concerts), Gloria Gaither spoke these inspiring words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Jesus, the mere mention of His name can calm the storm, heal the broken, raise the dead. At the name of Jesus, I\u2019ve seen sin-hardened men melted, derelicts transformed. The lights of hope put in the eyes of a hopeless child. At the name of Jesus, hatred and bitterness turn to love and forgiveness. Arguments cease. I\u2019ve heard a mother softly breathe His name at the bedside of a child delirious from fever, and I\u2019ve watched that little body be quiet, fevered brow cooled. I\u2019ve sat at the bedside of a dying saint, her body wracked with pain who in those final fleeting seconds summoned her last ounce of ebbing strength just to whisper earth\u2019s sweetest name. Emperors have tried to destroy it. Philosophers have tried to stamp it out. Tyrants have tried to wash it from the face of the earth with the very blood of those who claimed it, yet it still stands. And there shall be that final day when every voice that has ever uttered a sound, every voice of Adam\u2019s race shall raise in one mighty chorus to proclaim the name of Jesus. For on that day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ IS truly Lord!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ah\u2013so you see\u2013it was not mere chance that caused the angel one night long ago to say to a virgin maiden, \u201cHis name shall be called Jesus.\u201d Jesus. Jesus. There is something, something about name.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don\u2019t take God\u2019s interruptions for granted. He interrupted my train of thought with the name of His Son, Jesus. I know today, someone needs to read this blog. Maybe that someone is you. You are at the end of your rope. You are lonely, discouraged, and hopeless. You dread tomorrow. You are lost and undone. I don\u2019t know what \u201cname\u201d is looming over you \u2013 \u201cLoser; Unloved; Ugly; Overweight; Underweight; Lonely; Depressed; Bankruptcy; Unworthy; Sick; Suicidal; Rejected; Despised\u201d. I do know that God is using the pen (keyboard) of this ready writer (typer) to tell you \u2013 \u201cDON\u2019T LISTEN TO THOSE LIES!\u201d Those are just names and they must bow to the Name of Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Philippians 2:9-11 says: \u201cTherefore God exalted Him (Jesus) to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the NAME of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You may pray or have heard others pray “in the name of Jesus” because, in THAT name, there is healing and power. II urge you today to join me in this prayer. “Heavenly Father, on behalf of my friends, my loved ones and me, I speak to all those lying names of sickness, disease, discomfort, hopelessness and pain and I declare and decree those chains are broken and are shut down by the mighty, life-transforming, powerful, new-life-giving NAME of Jesus.
