{"id":1462,"date":"2015-12-22T12:43:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-22T18:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/revivingthe-lost-art-of-caroling\/"},"modified":"2019-02-18T10:05:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T16:05:20","slug":"revivingthe-lost-art-of-caroling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/?p=1462","title":{"rendered":"Reviving the Lost Art of Caroling"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-BXkLr_cwCYc\/VnlElrd86kI\/AAAAAAAANJk\/fmR8DSFdYZc\/s1600\/Christmas%2BProgram.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasProgram.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Day 357 of Photo Inspirations &#8212; Reviving the Lost Art of Caroling<br \/>\nCaroling was a familiar Christmas tradition when I was a kid. &nbsp;Our youth group would go to nearby neighborhoods or to nursing homes to sing the old traditional Christmas carols. &nbsp;I&#8217;ll never forget the looks on those precious people&#8217;s faces who seemed to soak in every word we sang. &nbsp;But, today, we don\u2019t carol like we once did\u2026. back in the good ole&#8217; days.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-QFNn-MiFtLU\/VnlErhwXelI\/AAAAAAAANJs\/REtzU80XrFM\/s1600\/Christmas%2BProgram%2BLarry%2B%2526%2BStaci.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasProgramLarry26Staci.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The word &#8220;Carol&#8221; actually means dance or a song of praise and joy! &nbsp; And, isn&#8217;t that what we should be doing at this time of year &#8212; dancing, praising and being joyful because of &#8220;the newborn King&#8221;? That&#8217;s what I saw Sunday night at my kids&#8217; church&#8217;s Christmas Program. There was lots of dancing, praising and great merriment, celebrating Christ&#8217;s birthday. &nbsp;I was so proud of Payton and Alexia for doing such great jobs in the program that will continue on through Christmas Eve night. &nbsp;We heard and sang lots of beautiful Christmas carols. <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-9prgDMZk1fU\/VnlEz9Vh3vI\/AAAAAAAANJ0\/flJZSsHbjCU\/s1600\/Christmas%2BProgram%2BRenzo.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasProgramRenzo.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Perhaps a return to simple core values like we had back in &#8220;the day&#8221; would help turn the tide of a world that seems to want to squelch Christmas and its true meaning. &nbsp;Simple, little pleasures, such as family dinners, game nights and holiday caroling could be just what we need to bring back the &#8220;Tis&#8217; the season to be jolly&#8221; times again. <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-H4XE3VpMnwU\/VnlE6ekWKjI\/AAAAAAAANJ8\/Uo6CK74J_co\/s1600\/Christmas%2BCarolers9.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasCarolers9.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Last week, a group of young people from a nearby church came by to carol in my community in Tulsa. &nbsp;It was a sweet experience as they came to my front door to sing. &nbsp;The residents in my community enjoyed their thoughtful gesture to sing for us. &nbsp; &nbsp; <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-QRSvDgtVUh8\/VnlFBCoY7uI\/AAAAAAAANKE\/1xexFVR3O_I\/s1600\/Christmas%2BCarolers8.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasCarolers8.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Now I&#8217;ve attended my godson&#8217;s Christmas musical and my grandchildren&#8217;s Christmas program here in Texas. &nbsp;While we love to watch our kids perform, as adults we just don\u2019t embrace caroling the way our parents did. &nbsp;Remember the old black and white movies, (It\u2019s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol), where those folks caroled? <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-S2oG_WxCJhM\/VnlFHnmzkII\/AAAAAAAANKM\/jeWYrE9N7rQ\/s1600\/Christmas%2BSheila%2BCarol.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasSheilaCarol.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Anytime there was a group of people gathered together at a holiday party, office function or neighborhood gathering, a festive song usually broke out. That\u2019s exactly what this Christmas season needs: people embracing the lost art of caroling again. It might be just the ticket to sing out those wonderful old carols that speak of &#8220;Peace on earth good will to men&#8221;, and &#8220;Joy to the World the Lord is Come&#8221;. &nbsp;It could put a smile on our faces and a song in our hearts that remind us of the hope that this season brings us &#8212; not just at Christmas, but all year through. <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-9Yxe12D7z1E\/VnlFO9J5ooI\/AAAAAAAANKU\/3Rko7yGAvVE\/s1600\/Christmas%2BCarolers6.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasCarolers6.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Last Sunday, we heard the pastor&#8217;s wife say &#8220;I&#8217;d like to encourage you all to do some caroling this Christmas like we once did as kids. &nbsp;People need to hear our joy and hope. &nbsp;Perhaps it&#8217;s just what they need, especially when they may be lonely or sad.&#8221; &nbsp;Then pastor said, &#8220;Well, I think we need to do that. &nbsp;As a matter of fact, let&#8217;s go caroling this week.&#8221; <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-tTyh4iEGzog\/VnlFXvlEEbI\/AAAAAAAANKc\/E42aHXdu-9Q\/s1600\/Christmas%2BCarolers2.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/mypeacezone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ChristmasCarolers2.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>And what a fun, joyful night we had, as pastor and his wife invited our little Wallace crew to come to their house for dinner and then go caroling with them. &nbsp;There were about 25 of us that joined them, and after dinner, we all went door-to-door singing joyfully. &nbsp;One lady came to her door and was overjoyed because she is alone this Christmas.
