Living directly across the road to Baylor, Scott and White Clinic, I thought it made good sense to acquire a family physician\u2026.just in case. Not that I\u2019m looking for issues, but at this well-seasoned age that I am, I just might need a little back-up plan. My brainwave idea didn\u2019t disappoint when I went for a wellness check-up. Dr. Adaya looked younger than her years, but she was thorough, thoughtful, didn\u2019t appear to be rushed which made my visit worthwhile.
You\u2019ll get a kick out of this. When asking about past and present issues, one of the questions she asked was: \u201cAre you sexually active?\u201d I quickly responded \u201cHeavenly days \u2013 no! My husband has been in heaven for almost 11 years now!\u201d And she replied, \u201cWell, age doesn\u2019t matter. I had an 85-year-old man come in to see me about his sex life. He said he needed help because his wife has dementia, and she wants \u201cit\u201d every day!\u201d From her medical reassurance, apparently there is always hope if we want \u201cit\u201d! LOL!
But back to her questions about family illnesses that could have caused trepidation. I had three siblings that graduated to heaven; two of them had Alzheimer’s disease and the other had Diabetes so severe that she lost one foot to the disease. My Mom, now in heaven, had congenital heart disease. My Dad, also in heaven, had a brain tumor. Goodness gracious. With all that medical history, you’d think I’d be saying “What\u2019s wrong with ME?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Honestly, when I forget someone’s name or where I’ve put my keys, my mind tries to tell me “You’ve inherited your family’s issues.” Besides taking daily supplements, I work out to keep my body strong. I do what I can to stay healthy as though it depended on me, but I’ve learned to pray and trust God as though it ALL depends on Him. The best antidote against the lies of the enemy about my health and well-being is to keep my mind on the ONE Who paid the ultimate price for my healing and well-being. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are many who live in fear about this virus or that virus. Their minds are always on \u201cwhat if\u201d and they live in captivity to their thoughts. I don\u2019t want to live with \u201che said or she said\u201d about the worst possible scenarios. I\u2019ve fixed my heart, my mind and all my being on God\u2019s promises of a life of freedom and peace. We must put a halt to the voice and lies of the enemy. The more we put up our “shields of faith” against his fiery and lying darts, the stronger we are in defeating him. There is no part about God\u2019s Word that suggests that we are defective or infected. It is the enemy that drives people to despair, fear, doubt, woe and discomfort. We should NEVER entertain the enemy and his lies. His sly tactics are to get us to focus on what could be wrong with us (real or perceived), instead of focusing on what God says that is ALL RIGHT with us. I remember an old gospel song and I\u2019m singing it right now as an \u201caction confession\u201d over the lies of the enemy: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We shall believe the report of the Lord!
Whose report will you receive?
We shall believe the report of the Lord!
His report says \u201cI am healed.\u201d
His report says \u201cI am filled\u201d
His report says \u201cI am free.\u201d
His report says \u201cVictory!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus paid the ultimate price for our healing and our victory in every area of life. All those sicknesses, diseases, and challenges were broken and paid for on the cross. It\u2019s time for us to let the Holy Spirit be the gatekeeper of our minds and then declare: \u201cThe report of the Lord\u201d \u2013 and not the lies of the enemy!
