A \u201cshow-stopper\u201d song that disrupted the angst, worry and concerns in my life was one written and sung by Andrae Crouch. It went like this: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI’ve had many tears and sorrows \/ I’ve had questions for tomorrow \/ There have been times I didn’t know right from wrong \/ But in every situation \/ God gave me blessed consolation \/ that my trials come to only make me strong. Chorus:
\u201cThrough it all \/ Through it all \/ I\u2019ve learned to trust in Jesus \/ I\u2019ve learned to trust in God \/ Through it all \/ Through it all \/ I\u2019ve learned to depend upon His Word.”
Those words and that song could have been written with me in mind. Everything I\u2019ve encountered in my life, from a young girl to today, I\u2019ve learned that no matter what I encountered, I could trust God and His Word. That has been my anchor and my shelter from the storms.
What I\u2019ve learned is that we learn strong faith from enduring tough times. I know that\u2019s not music to our ears, but check out the heroes of faith in the Bible or any of the overcomers in these times, and we\u2019ll tell you our victories didn\u2019t come without struggles and doubts.
Case in point. Just a few days ago, I received a private message from a friend. She admitted that, since a little girl, she struggled from anxiety accompanied by panic attacks. She carried the pain for some time before reaching out to friends of faith for help just a few weeks ago. Each one pointed her to God. Wise counsel came that included reading Bible verses that addressed trust in God and how to alleviate anxiety. My small part in her story is that she read one of my recent blogs about worry and it was timely and solidified what she had been hearing. She read it over and over. And best news ever, she is no longer having anxiety. She understands the role that God plays in everything. While she was seeking and asking God for help, He placed the right people in her life at the right times. She often quotes: 2 Timothy 1:7 \u201cGod has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind\u201d. She said: \u201cWhen it absorbed into my soul, there was peace. Such peace. I decided that this is my moment. I am not going to let God down. He is going to see me trust him with everything in my being.\u201d
Her story is not unlike my story. I didn\u2019t have panic attacks, but I did suffer from acute colitis. My Christian doctor advised it was from worry. I took his advice and I, too, found my healing from trusting God and His Word.
Whatever you may be struggling with today, I urge you to take God at His Word. Our Father\u2019s message to us is the same as the angel\u2019s word to the shepherds \u201cFear not\u201d, the same words that God spoke to Joshua, \u201cFear not\u201d, the same words that Jesus said to His disciples in John 14:27 \u201cPeace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and DO NOT BE AFRAID.”
Maybe this blog today is a \u201cshow-stopper\u201d for you. The \u201cshow\u201d of fear, worry and concern stops as you trust in the One Who promises this season will become the game changer that takes you to \u201clearning to trust in God and His Word\u201d.
