I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever said to God: \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you make me a man instead of a woman?\u201d God made me ME, and though I\u2019ve sort of wished I\u2019d been able to have given God a hand when He hand-crafted me and my exterior (i.e., \u201cWhy the ski-slope nose, skin that requires abundant sun lotion, and why not a few more curves in the right places?\u201d), NEVER did I question God\u2019s making of me. Added bonus was being loved and cared for by a precious man and being a mother and grandmother to amazing human beings!
I have a hilarious friend in Tulsa whose sense of humor is delivered to me via e-mail almost daily. What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can’t be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. And your \u201crest-room\u201d can be just about in any outdoor location. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress: $5,000; Tux rental: $100. People never stare at your chest when you’re talking to them.
One mood all the time. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. You never have strap problems in public.
Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck. One wallet and one pair of shoes \u2014 one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can ‘do’ your nails with a pocket-knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache. You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24th in 25 minutes.
Children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about boo-boos, dentist appointments, romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears, and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.\u201d
I got a kick out of reading this. There are comical truths but I know those are mostly just “fun-facts” because many men have picked up the slack in being great hands-on dads and husbands today! But, when it comes right down to it, our all-knowing and all-loving Father God knew exactly what He was doing when He handcrafted us and made us to be WHO (man or woman) we are. \u201cFor You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother\u2019s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful. I know that full well.\u201d Psalm 139:13-14
I\u2019m grateful God\u2019s ideas included womanhood for me. How could I question His wisdom for my life? I know I was created in the image of God \u2013 and that\u2019s not speaking of the exterior. God created us in His image so that we would display and reflect Who He is, how great He is, and what He is like. We are His images on this earth. He creates us as precious treasures and handcrafts us with strength, abilities and instincts that guide and protect us and others. \u201cIn His image\u201d means we, too, are creators. We are nurturing and caring and in partnership with Him We are creators of life in our children and those we help \u201cbirth\u201d into God\u2019s Kingdom. God\u2019s love, peace, compassion, and kindness runs deep in us.
