This blog was inspired from listening to Air1’s Christian radio DJ.\u00a0 He and his co-DJ were asking their audience what they did to economize.\u00a0 One listener said she cuts open the toothpaste tube and scrapes out enough toothpaste for several more brushes! \u00a0That’s beyond my squeezing the tube with the use of a straight edge to push out the very last bit.\u00a0 I won\u2019t be cutting up the tube. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And speaking of economizing, there’s the electricity situation where I make sure the lights are all shut off in my place when I\u2019m not using that room or when I\u2019m leaving my place for a while. Recently I came home from a long trip and was dismayed when I realized I left my closet light on. Ugh! I thought: \u201cSuch a waste!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know I am the product of parents who survived the Great Depression. It was drilled into us to not waste anything uselessly. “Waste not; want not!” \u00a0Some of my family have joined me in asking for boxes for the leftovers at restaurants. \u00a0I thoroughly enjoy my already-prepared-meal for the next day! \u00a0\u00a0
I don\u2019t have to have things to bring me satisfaction.\u00a0 But, I thoroughly enjoy seeking and finding a bargain. It\u2019s like the $50 quarterly benefit that I get from my health insurance company.\u00a0 They provide health and wellness products that I can choose from in a catalog or on-line.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t really NEED anything to speak of but when I saw a \u201ctalking\u201d scale as an offer, I chose it plus some suntan lotion.\u00a0 Aw!\u00a0 I loved my finds.\u00a0
And you know what?\u00a0 That\u2019s the finds in God\u2019s Word that we can take advantage of daily when it comes to our loving, abundant Lord! (\u201cI came to give abundance \u00a0to your life\u201d John 10:10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1) That is not poverty mentality. That is a loving Good Shepherd Who supplies ALL my needs according to His riches in glory!\u201d (Philippians 4:19)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Bible, our financial status isn\u2019t found in what we possess. It is found in WHO possesses us. Stuff isn\u2019t what defines us. It is our satisfaction found in our Savior \u201cWho will not withhold any good thing from them that walk uprightly.\u201d (Psalm 84:11)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
