It\u2019s about 8:30 pm. Tuesday night. Lights are out. I\u2019m in bed watching a Hallmark Christmas movie! I\u2019m caught up in the love story that I already know what the ending will be, when suddenly, loud knocking on my bedroom door. Yes, I said, \u201cbedroom door\u201d and not my front door!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holy jumping catfish!!! I hear a man\u2019s voice, \u201cDonna, it\u2019s Joe! Your keys were in your front door.\u201d THIS MAN IS IN MY APARTMENT! And, were it not for Joe, there could have been anyone else in my apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not even thinking about me being in my nightie, I open the bedroom door and see Joe trying to back his way out! He explains again that a friend saw the keys in my front door, knocked and no answer, then called Joe for intervention! He thought it could have been a medical emergency or worse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On my phone, I see where Joe had called me AND left text messages. But, I was so engrossed in my movie I never heard the phone (on silent mode) or his knock on my front door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course this leads to another blog \u2013 which today starts with \u201cknocking\u201d! AND, God, please bless Joe for his kindness, and I pray for divine intervention in NOT leaving my keys in the door again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Could this be a blog that speaks of God knocking on OUR heart\u2019s door? We are so caught up in our text messages or emails or social media OR movie watching that we can\u2019t hear Him knocking. Perhaps He has a divine revelation, an idea, an aha that could change the course of our lives\u2026..but we\u2019re not hearing Him. It\u2019s time to pivot and flip the switch to \u201cLOUD & CLEAR\u201d so He can come in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, perhaps, you ARE all ears \u2013 listening for that \u201cknocking\u201d at your heart\u2019s door. You might also be \u201cthe knocker\u201d — knocking on God\u2019s door and it seems no one\u2019s home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joe knew I was in there. And we know God is in there. We have His blessed assurance that He is there. We continue to pound away at the door \u2013 pleading, begging, seeking, knocking, but the door just doesn\u2019t open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve all felt that way. Here at Christmas, desiring to give to our family and others but there\u2019s just so little or nothing at all to be a giver. You may be looking for a job or a better job. You know how thrilling it is for children at Christmas, which makes you desire to conceive and have a baby even more. You may be suffering from a tormenting illness and the thought of Christmas makes you say \u201cbah humbug\u201d because you desire to be freed to embrace the joys of this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe you just want to experience joy again and truly be able to sing \u201cJoy to the World\u201d with fervor. It\u2019s in these times that our loving Father, on the other side of the door, gently whispers to us, \u201cBe still and know that I am God. Be still and listen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Be still in His presence and let Him assure us that He is working behind the scenes to do \u201cimmeasurably more than all we ask or imagine!\u201d (Ephesians 3:20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God is working all things for our good on the other side of the door. He\u2019s repositioning circumstances and people for an answer to our prayers (our knocking). Very soon that door will swing wide open, and He will do a quick work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meantime, be encouraged by Matthew 7:7, \u201cKeep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
