Nike\u2019s three little words have certainly had a shelf life that has been strong since 1988. No slogan has come close to making the cultural impact and getting the worldwide acceptance of Nike\u2019s unforgettable phrase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cJust do it\u201d tagline became one of the biggest ad ideas in history because it spoke to each person in a unique way. For some, it motivated them to push past their personal limits, while others were inspired to overlook and overcome all obstacles in their path. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whether deep-seated or lighthearted, the inspiration evoked by the tagline proved powerful enough to make it a personal mantra for millions. It encouraged them to dream and do the things they had always wanted. On the surface, the slogan appeared to apply to fitness and exercise, but most tweaked and transformed it to suit their personal goals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s still astounding to think how three little words could transcend all cultural, social, psychological, and demographic differences around the world. As a result, Nike\u2019s brand image soared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, I\u2019m going somewhere with this \u201cJust Do It\u201d mindset. Isn\u2019t that how we often talk to God? \u201cHeavenly Father, please, JUST DO IT!\u201d Heal my child\u2019s body; restore our marriage; find me that job; help me get that car! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
God isn\u2019t in the genie business at all. God is in the faithfulness business. If God is our standard for faithfulness, then we have a lot to measure up to. Just the thought of His faithfulness, overwhelms me. He never gives up on us. He’s ALWAYS there for us. We never have to question His loyalty and integrity. He just DOES IT! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nike’s \u201cJust Do It\u201d slogan could represent faithfulness. Just doing it — the right thing — no matter what. Doing it regardless of feelings, moods, or desires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every day we’re tempted to give excuses for NOT DOING IT. We’re tired, so we say, \u201cI can\u2019t do it.\u201d We’re just plain lazy, so we say, “I don\u2019t want to do it.” We’re feeling hopeless, so we say, “It doesn\u2019t matter if I do it. Why try?” We procrastinate, so we say, \u201cI\u2019ll do it later.” We rationalize that we don’t need to do it, so we say, “Someone else will do it.” We’re rebellious, so we say, “I won’t do it!” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s bring it home. What are the true marks of faithfulness that we want to bear and emulate with a JUST DO IT attitude: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We follow through\u2026on whatever we must do, and we finish it.
We come through\u2026.no matter what.
We deliver the goods\u2026..we finish what we start.
We show up\u2026..even early so others won\u2019t worry.
We keep our word\u2026.our ‘yes’ means yes and our ‘no’ means no.
We keep our commitments and appointments\u2026.we don’t cancel.
We are faithful in our relationship with God\u2026spending faithful daily time with Him.
We are devoted to fidelity, loyalty, integrity and honor in friendships and marriage.
We live by the Golden Rule and the 10 Commandments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We may stumble from time to time, but we don\u2019t stay down for long — for we are faithful and devoted followers of Christ. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One day we\u2019ll be rewarded because of our faithfulness, and we’ll hear these beautiful words: \u201cYOU DID IT!\u201d \u201cWell done, good and FAITHFUL servant! You have been FAITHFUL with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master\u2019s happiness!\u201d Matthew 25:2 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
