Good thing I\u2019m NOT God because I would have sure messed things up many times over with my ideas, thoughts, and desires. Garth Brooks sang \u201cI thank God for unanswered prayers.\u201d And I agree, I thank God for not answering many of my prayers If He had answered \u2018yes\u2019 to many of those prayers, no telling what my life would look like today!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thought about the prayers I prayed over the years, asking God for a miracle during some of the toughest times. Good thing \u201cHis ways are so much higher than my ways\u201d (Isaiah 55:8) because \u201cmy ways\u201d would have borne some uncomfortable results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following is a writing by Kimberly Henderson of Proverbs 31 Ministries. It spoke to me and I\u2019m sure it will speak to you, too! It had no title with it, so I gave it the same one I titled my blog today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If I Were God I Would Have\u2026..
~~ I would have pulled Joseph out. Out of that pit. Out of that prison. Out of that pain. And I would have cheated nations out of the one God would use to deliver them from famine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
~~ I would have pulled David out. Out of Saul\u2019s spear-throwing presence. Out of the caves where he hid. Out of the pain of rejection. And I would have cheated Israel out of a God-hearted king.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
~~ I would have pulled Esther out. Out of being snatched from her family. Out of being placed in a position she never asked for. Out of the path of a vicious, power-hungry foe. And I would have cheated a people out of the woman God would use to save their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
~~ I would have pulled Jesus off. Off the cross. Off the road that led to suffering and pain. Off the path that would mean beatings, nails and thorns. And I would have cheated the entire world out of a Savior. Out of salvation. Out of an eternity filled with no more suffering and no more pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, I want to pull you out. I want to change your path. I want to stop your pain. But right now, I know I would be wrong. I would be cheating you and cheating the world out of so much good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because God knows the good this pain will produce. He\u2019s watching over you and keeping you during this. He\u2019s promising you that you can trust Him. Even when it all feels like more than you can bear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So instead of trying to pull you out, I\u2019m lifting you up. I\u2019m kneeling before the Father and I\u2019m asking Him to give you strength. To give you hope. I\u2019m asking Him to protect you and to move you when the time is right. I’m asking Him to help you stay prayerful and discerning. And I\u2019m believing He\u2019s going to use your life in powerful and beautiful ways. Ways that will leave your heart grateful and humbly thankful for this road you’re on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I believe that God has a perfect plan for all the stuff that has seemed lackluster in your life. I believe His plans for you exceed any plans you have contrived. I believe if you\u2019ll sincerely let go of your ideas for the God-ideas coming your way, YOU WILL arrive right on time with the who, what and where He has perfectly designed for you.
