I am not having to order laughter medicine any longer because I married a man who IS my laughter medicine every day. Thanks, God! I needed that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all need an unlimited supply of laughter medicine. In fact, you might need a hearty dose right now! We all need it — especially because the political town halls are underway and it would sure be easy to get depressed by the words that fly about how bad things are for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confession. I have watched a couple of those events, and it sounds like our country is \u201cgoing to hell in a handbasket\u201d. I\u2019m not going there because I keep taking double-doses of laughter AND faith medicine. \u201cA merry\/joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.\u201d (Proverbs 17:22)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t want the disease (dis-ease) of a sad and disheartened spirit. I don\u2019t want dried-up bones. Bring on the medicine of a merry and joyful heart to lubricate our bones and joints. And, let’s take a double dose!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An add-on to that Proverbs message is also this one from Proverbs: \u201cShe is clothed in strength and dignity, and she LAUGHS without fear of the future.\u201d (Proverbs 31:25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to be this woman. She is a woman (and I\u2019m sure men can be included) who embodies the balance of strength \u2013 she is strong, holding it all together, while being able to laugh in the face of fear. She walks in the recognition of not only who she is, but Whose she is. No need to fear when God is her Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In times when there is plenty of doom and gloom, laughing can be that “medicine” that causes us to have merry hearts, despite it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough or sniffle. When laughter is “caught”, we are bound together in joy. The medical field says humor and laughter strengthen our immune system, boosts our energy, diminishes pain, and protects us from stress. Best of all, this laughter medicine is free and easy to use…..and we can’t overdose on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m sure God must laugh at His kids who get all disgruntled and sad when He has us all wrapped up and tied up in His lovingkindness and faithfulness. He\u2019s got this. He\u2019s got us. Whatever the future holds, like that Proverbs 31-woman, laughter just may be the medicine for us to take daily so that we live with “NO FEAR of the days to come.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s a dose of laughter medicine for you today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3-year-old Reese: \u201cOur Father who does art in heaven. Harold is His name.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Sunday School teacher asked her class: \u201cWhat was Jesus\u2019 mother\u2019s name?\u201d One child answered, \u201cMary\u201d. The teacher then asked, \u201cWho knows what Jesus\u2019 father\u2019s name was?\u201d A little kid said, \u201cVerge\u201d. Confused, the teacher asked, \u201cWhere did you get that?\u201d The kid said, \u201cWell, you know they are always talking about Verge n\u2019 Mary!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
