You might be asking \u201cMy heart has a compass?\u201d Oh, yes it does. Proverbs 3:5-6 says this: \u201cTrust in the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I love asking young people what their career path looks like. When I asked our grandson what he hopes to do \u2013 without skipping a beat, he replied, \u201cInternational Business Management\u201d! Because he is majoring in business and Spanish, he clearly has the opportunity for many doors to open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many of us ask: \u201cHow do I know what my purpose is?\u201d Or \u201cHow do I know which road I am supposed to take?\u201d Sometimes that road is barely lit and we can\u2019t even see beyond the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We aren\u2019t handed directions or bright yellow signs that say: \u201cTurn Left\u201d or \u201cMake a U-turn.\u201d Our heads may be filled with doubts, fears, and internal criticisms, and we may be unsure whether to go or to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The answer is\u2026first, stand still and listen and feel and allow our heart’s compass to reset. When we are still, it makes us intentional about listening closely. About seeing things clearly. And mostly about feeling the true pull of our hearts\u2026not the pull of something or someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are pulled in all directions every day. So much so that we no longer listen to the desires that God placed in our hearts. Instead of going to everyone else for answers — to friends, social media, articles, quizzes, and tests, let\u2019s try listening to the ONE thing that only we can know. Our heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we are watching the magnetic pull of the arrow on our heart\u2019s compass, we\u2019ll clearly see the direction it is pulling us toward \u2013 the door it is pointing us towards \u2013 the path that a little light is shining on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we stand still, our heart will get quiet enough that we may rediscover an answer that is buried but has been there all along. Matthew 6:21 says: \u201cFor where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where is OUR treasure? If God is our greatest treasure, then we’ll start to discover the direction the arrow is pointing. Keep following it. It is the best road map we will ever find.
