Check out these outfits we donned for our community’s 60s Party. Fun night — but what were we thinking — back in the day? We’ve all made some less-than-stellar fashion choices \u2013 especially those of us that saw the extremes in the fashion industry over many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That apparel trend looks “far-out”! That was a saying — back in the day. But often we ARE too far-out and far-off of what God intends for us — in the matters of our heads and hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ask ourselves the questions, \u201cWho am I? Why don’t I know my purpose in life? Why am I not satisfied with my life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But instead of asking God for the answers to those questions, we turn to social media for a little inspiration. This is the sort of thing that we find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are the author of your story.\u201d
\u201cYou are in control of your life.\u201d
\u201cLive for you. Believe in yourself.\u201d
\u201cYou are enough.\u201d
\u201cTrust in your own power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, if we want to find our way out of socially acceptable trends and styles and negative thoughts about ourselves, we must realize that God\u2019s messages to us are always ALL-IN through every season of our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast to the messages of the world, God says:
\u201cI am the author of your story.\u201d
\u201cLet ME be in control of your life.\u201d
\u201cLive for me. Believe in me.\u201d
\u201cI am enough.\u201d
\u201cTrust in my power. It is made perfect in your weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we are depressed, anxious, and empty, it is because we have moved our collective focus from God and placed it on ourselves. And that heavy weight was meant only for Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a way out from under all those piles of yuck. It starts by shifting our focus away from us\/me and placing it all on God. It means stopping the pursuit of glory for us, and instead living every moment of every day for God’s glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s it \u2013 offering up everything to Him — everything we do and see and think and love. For everything we do is to be done for Him, and everything we see is a preparation for seeing Him, and everything we love is loved only because it resembles Him in some way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make me more like You, Jesus! That is my heart\u2019s desire. I lift my empty cup and ask you to fill it up only as You can!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
