Where in the world would you go to celebrate an anniversary? How about Boulder City, Nevada and seeing the Hoover Dam where it\u2019s hot hot hot? But, when you have cousins who live there in a gorgeous home overlooking majestic mountains, the desert and Lake Mead, you welcome the blessing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Covered in sunscreen and being out in the desert\u2019s hot, blistering sun, I can understand how seeing an oasis of water just a few feet in front of you, is a reality when you\u2019re thirsty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were close enough to Las Vegas to take in David Copperfield\u2019s show at the MGM Grand. I\u2019ll admit I believed in the impossible when I saw his stunts. One minute he’s here, the next he’s there.
It’s watching a living, breathing extremely, remarkable illusion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story of his mom\u2019s and dad\u2019s love for each other and for him, drew me in and his illusions got me thinking. How many times do we find ourselves caught up in the illusions of life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You know — the promise of happiness wrapped in a shiny new gadget, the allure of success disguised as endless work hours, or the mirage of fulfillment through fleeting pleasures. We chase these illusions, hoping they\u2019ll fill the void, only to find they vanish as quickly as they appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the smoke and mirrors of a Vegas show, God’s love and blessings are rock solid. They’re not tricks meant to dazzle us momentarily; they’re promises meant to sustain us eternally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think about it: The gift of a new day, the embrace of a loved one, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Those are NOT illusions. They are God’s handiwork that is crafted with love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take, the gift of grace. It\u2019s not something we can earn. It’s a divine gift, freely given. Or the gift of hope. It\u2019s not an illusion. It is a steadfast anchor for our souls in the stormiest of seas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And let’s not forget the gift of joy — a divine gift that lifts our spirits and lightens our burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am so grateful for the reminders of God’s real and perfect gifts. No illusions, no tricks \u2013 but the steadfast love of a Father Who delights in giving good things to His children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
