In 1921, the Taggert Baking Company of Indianapolis was about to launch its 1.5 pound loaf of bread. Elmer Cline was charged with finding a name for the new bread. Inspiration struck while he was visiting the International Balloon Race at the Indianapolis Speedway. He was awestruck by a sky filled with hundreds of colorful balloons. To Elmer, the image signified a sense of \u201cwonder,\u201d and Wonder\u00ae Bread was born. Notice all those balloons on the packaging!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That word, \u201cwonder\u201d inspires me. There\u2019s something about children that God wants us to see AND be. Children possess a natural display of wonder. Their world is viewed through the eyes of wonder and excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are in awe of life with their innocence, purity and curiosity. Let\u2019s be childlike! That means letting go of our \u201cknow-it-all\u201d ego and becoming more open to the awe and wonder of our God and His creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children have wonder-filled eyes that are easy to recognize. They are ready to try new things like climbing up the pantry shelves to see what’s up at the top! Nothing seems impossible for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the childlike spirit that God wants us to have. There is no theme park or even the seven wonders of the world to compare to our God of wonders. The Bible is full of accounts of the great acts God performed for His people. This scripture is my own testimony!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Psalm 77:11\u201314 says: “I will remember the deeds of the L\u1d0f\u0280\u1d05; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, Oh God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just browse through scripture and perhaps you will get wonder-filled again. Or, like me, recall the awesome wonders He has done in our lives. I assure you \u2013 this gal knows wonders. I have witnessed it through divine escapes from accidents, God\u2019s healing virtue, divinely protected by His limitless power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God\u2019s wondrous works are designed to draw people to Himself. Most miraculous is how our God of wonders revealed Himself in Jesus Christ, overcame the power of sin and death, and redeemed His people for all eternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, when we are \u201cwondering\u201d about quitting because we\u2019re too old, too shy, too weak, too forgotten, too weary, too wounded \u2013 or too whatever, let\u2019s remember\u2026..with wide-eyed wonder, about our loving and faithful God Who is up to something WONDER-full in our lives.
