How\u2019s that for putting our souls at ease? God is THE ONE in control \u2013 no matter what! So, let\u2019s bid Him a sweet \u201cGood night, Lord\u201d and sleep like a baby!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEasy for you to say\u201d, you might be replying. But we really can take the load off our feet AND our heart and say \u201cGood night, Lord!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How we end our day makes all the difference in how we sleep. And how we sleep makes all the difference in how we\u2019re able to function the next day. To live with purpose, we need to end our day well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each night, after I\u2019m tucked into bed, I listen to a soft-spoken reader from my phone speak words of peace, comfort and inspiration. I promise you, ending our day with a good devotion, a good word, is like a sleeping pill for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no better word than God\u2019s Word. Back to that scripture that I started with today \u2013 the last line from the Lord\u2019s Prayer: \u201cFor Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we end our day with that verse, we\u2019re going to sleep a whole lot better, because it contains incredibly encouraging truths:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God is in control. Politicians aren\u2019t. Other nations aren\u2019t. Our boss isn\u2019t. Our government isn’t. God is ultimately in control. The Bible says, \u201cThe king\u2019s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; He guides it wherever He pleases\u201d (Proverbs 21:1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s why the world changes when God\u2019s people pray. He\u2019s waiting for us to talk to Him and surrender the burdens that are keeping us from rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God’s family wins in the end! When we read the last chapter of the Bible, we discover that God wins. If the last thing we look at before we go to bed is either the news or late-night TV hosts talking about the news, then we\u2019ll go to bed depressed. But if we go to bed with God\u2019s truth playing in our head, then we\u2019ll go to bed with peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holocaust survivor Corrie Ten Boom said, \u201cIf you look at the world, you\u2019ll be distressed. If you look within, you\u2019ll be depressed. If you look at Christ, you\u2019ll be at rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where are you looking to find rest? Before you end your day, remind yourself of God\u2019s truth. Say to Him, \u201cGod, you\u2019re in control. Good night, Lord. I\u2019ll see you in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
