Ever had a phone call drop out mid-conversation, just when you\u2019re getting to the good part? Or, been in an elevator where you\u2019re waving your phone around like it\u2019s a magic wand, desperately hoping for a signal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve all been there. Whether it\u2019s a concrete building or a wilderness area, reception can be hit or miss. To get a strong signal, you\u2019ve got to be in the right spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funny enough, our connection with God works the same way. If we\u2019re out of position, it\u2019s like trying to hear through static. So, what does it mean to be \u201cpositioned\u201d to hear God clearly? It starts with having an open heart and mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we\u2019re in the wrong position, our hearts get hard, and our minds close off. Maybe it’s pride — we\u2019re too stuck on doing things our way! Or we\u2019re scared stiff of what God might say — afraid we\u2019ll turn into one of those \u201cGod told me this, God told me that\u201d kind of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And let\u2019s not forget the bitterness that clings to us from past hurts, making it hard to receive anything, even God\u2019s love. That\u2019s the defense act of a cold heart!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the good news: God isn\u2019t hard to reach. He\u2019s not playing hide-and-seek with us. If we can shed the pride, fear, and stubbornness that block our spiritual reception, we\u2019ll find that He\u2019s been standing by the whole time, ready for a little chat any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God speaks in so many ways \u2013 even sometimes in a quiet \u201caha\u201d moment when something clicks, other times while we\u2019re driving down the road and we just sense His presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The key is getting into the position to hear Him. Turn off the TV. Put down the cell phone. Go for a walk. Or just sit still and listen. Lean in. He promises, ” Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.\u201d Jeremiah 33:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n
