\nJuly 8th, 1966 \u2013 I married the love of my life. Never did we dream we wouldn\u2019t make it to our 50th Wedding Anniversary….let alone our 45th. In fact, we had already made plans for how we\u2019d celebrate our 50th. There weren\u2019t many things we would do without the other, but this time, God had better plans \u2013 one of us would get an early \u201cdeparture for heaven\u201d ticket. He earned it, and God was ready to give him his BEST! <\/p>\n

Since one of us is still here\u2026.on this side of heaven\u2026..I\u2019m still celebrating and remembering \u2026.once again. It brings me so much comfort and joy to be able to share about my darling husband. We had almost 45 years together — packed full of wonderful memories. In celebration of our 45th, here’s 45 of some of my favorite memories!
\n1) The first time I saw him \u2013 he was the cutest, black haired boy in the choir and he was stretching over others to see me!
\n2) My Grandmother calling to tell me\u2026.\u201dRonnie likes you!\u201d
\n3) Him standing on the step above me in pictures, because I was taller than him! (Eventually…he caught up and stood a whole 3 inches taller than me!)
\n4) Our first date at ages 12 & 13 \u2013 Valentine\u2019s Banquet at Maplewood Assembly of God Church \u2013 and me being so proud to introduce \u201cmy boy friend\u201d.
\n5) Holding hands for the first time in the back seat of my sister\u2019s car\u2026..and having sweaty palms because we were so nervous.
\n6) Kip\u2019s Restaurant in Dallas \u2013 holding hands, with little sister giggling as she peeked under the table.
\n7) Our strategic plan for our first kiss \u2013 behind the church, and getting his mint in my mouth!
\n8) Love Field Airport, Dallas \u2013 in his parked car, enjoying watching the airplanes land\u2026…sort of!
\n9) My Grandmother\u2019s House \u2013 watching movies late\u2026.late!
\n10) His wonderful piano playing and singing. His encouragement to me\u2026.to play the organ.
\n11) Loving Musical Theater: \u201cBye, Bye Birdie\u201d; \u201cThe Music Man\u201d; \u201cMy Fair Lady\u201d; \u201cOklahoma\u201d
\n12) LaTanisha Restaurant in Love Field Airport \u2013 fried bananas\u2026..and \u201cYes, I will marry you!\u201d
\n13) July 8, 1966 — he was 18; I was 17 — our Wedding Day \u2013 Yellow Roses \u2013 our favorite song, \u201cTill There Was You\u201d; (Yellow Roses continued to be our favorite flower and bush in our yards!)
\n14) Sherman, TX \u2013 1st Honeymoon Night; Lake Texoma Lodge \u2013 2nd and 3rd Honeymoon Nights
\n15) Our First Apartment \u2013 Pet Parakeets: Herbie and Gertie \u2013 flying to the tree that he made us!
\n16) Fishing at Lake Lavon \u2013 wearing hip waders and yelling \u201cFISH ON!\u201d
\n17) After married for only 3 months\u2026..he proclaimed\u2026.\u201dLet\u2019s start our family NOW!\u201d
\n18) Dallas Cowboy fans \u2013 adjusting the antennae to see the game \u2013 Sunday afternoon delight!
\n19) The arrival of our baby boy and the arrival of our baby girl.
\n20) Ministry: Dallas Evangelistic Center; Keystone Christian Center; Master\u2019s 4 Quartet; Evangelistic Center, Tecumseh, OK; Shawnee Christian Center, Shawnee, OK; Catholic Church Ministry; Mexico and Belize Missions Trips
\n21) Camp-Outs at Lake Texoma, Lake Murray, Lake Tenkiller, Table Rock Lake in our tents and then van, then our 5th Wheel, then our Winnebago
\n22) Our flight training \u2013 both of us becoming pilots.
\n23) Building our houses
\n24) Our ranch and cattle and horses and King (our big White German Shepherd).
\n25) Not missing any of our kids\u2019 activities: Cub Scouts, sports, talent contests, sales contests
\n26) Living in Canada for 7 years
\n27) Fishing Trips via float plane \u2013 my big fish story \u2013 Master Angler!
\n28) Our kids getting married;
\n29) Our kids giving us six beautiful grandchildren.
\n30) Our love for traveling and cruising — 15 cruises in all!
\n31) Our family vacations \u2013 cruises, trips to Mexico, Texas, North Carolina, Washington, Arkansas, New York
\n32) Our homes in Dallas, Keystone, Shawnee, Okla. City, Canada, Tulsa, and Sapulpa
\n33) Honey wins us a trip to Sweden \u2013 our great adventures to Denmark and Germany
\n34) Encouraging so many people one-on-one \u2013 seeing their lives changed and helped
\n35) Our trip to Rome and Mediterranean Cruise on our 40th Anniversary
\n36) Loving taking the grandchildren on trips and having exciting adventures!
\n37) Our favorite past time \u2013 eating out!
\n38) Regular Date Nights \u2013 movies and musical theater were our favorites!
\n39) Spending time with the grandkids \u2013 we were great at being Nana and Papa!
\n40) Enjoying the successes of our children \u2013 being so thankful for their accomplishments
\n41) Having morning devotion together \u2013 sweet times of praise and worship
\n42) Loving going to church together \u2013 thanking God for His goodness to us!
\n43) Cuddling and holding and loving \u2013 being best friends and lovers.
\n44) Realizing God\u2019s destiny and purpose for our lives together
\n45) Realizing our faith, our trust in God, and though sometimes we had our ups and downs, giving up was never an option. God\u2019s ultimate plan for our lives was how this Love Story lasted for over 44 years! <\/p>\n

So, today, July 8th, 2011, I\u2019m thanking You, God, for loving me so much that You showered your blessings upon me to the fullest with the man of my dreams. Knowing how our story together would end\u2026.I\u2019d do it all again\u2026.and I\u2019d say \u201cyes\u201d again and again. And to show how thankful I am\u2026..I\u2019m going to continue strong on this amazing faith journey, make more memories with our family and friends and continue writing many chapters in my journal that celebrate LIFE on this side of heaven\u2026..until the day I get to join my Honey at HOME!
