The celebration of our Lord\u2019s birth wrapped up yesterday, and oh, what a sweet time it was! We had Christmas with Carl\u2019s family last Sunday and celebrated with my Wuerch Family yesterday. Our East Texas crew joined the festivities via phone calls, UPS deliveries, and lots of texts. We may have been scattered, but we were all together in love and heart!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As is tradition, Christmas means it\u2019s time for my \u201cword\u201d message — those personalized letters to each family member, paired with a small token of my love that highlights the theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every year, I pray for a word that will encourage and bless each one, often drawing from the lessons God whispered to me over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, the word LIGHT kept flashing across my heart. It resonated deeply as I watched our world wrestle with so much darkness and fear. LIGHT feels more necessary than ever — bright, hopeful, God-given LIGHT. My token gift to each one was a little lantern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God chose us to be LIGHT-bearers and LIGHT-givers. And oh, what a gift that is — the kind of light that doesn\u2019t just brighten rooms but brings warmth to hearts and souls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus said, \u201cYOU are the light of the world.\u201d (Matthew 5:14). That means we\u2019re already lit up and ready to shine like nobody\u2019s business!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It doesn\u2019t take grand gestures to brighten someone\u2019s day. Sometimes it\u2019s as simple as showing up with kindness, laughter, or a little joy — the kind that can only come from knowing Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In my letter, I reminded everyone: \u201cThink of yourself as a lantern. Wherever you go, you light up the room. And with Jesus as our source, we never have to worry about running out of batteries or our flame burning out. We\u2019re plugged into the Ultimate Power Source — Jesus, Who never goes out!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can\u2019t help but think of that good ol\u2019 Sunday School song: \u201cThis little light of mine\u2026 I\u2019m gonna let it shine!\u201d There\u2019s something to it. We may never know how much darkness our light drives away, simply living with joy and faith, even in hard seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keeping that light blazing takes intention. Paul reminds us, \u201cYou were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.\u201d (Ephesians 5:8). It\u2019s like hanging out with Jesus — the more we do, the brighter we shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So here\u2019s my encouragement to you\u2014SHINE, Baby, Shine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
