Yesterday I woke with fresh optimism about what our future holds for us. Was it because we hoped and prayed President Trump will make positive, healthy, morally, and biblically sound decisions that will unify and protect our country, turn our hearts to God, and \u201cmake us great again\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We can hope and pray, can\u2019t we? As he vowed before God to lead our nation, I found myself fervently praying for unity, wisdom and a collective turning of hearts back to God. Tears welled up as I watched, not out of partisan loyalty, but with the hope that our nation might embrace God\u2019s grace once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of my favorite moments came as I watched beautiful and gifted Carrie Underwood brace herself with dignity when the soundtrack to \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d failed to play. Without missing a beat, she boldly said, \u201cHelp me out here\u201d and invited the crowd to sing along. She delivered an anointed a cappella version. And her words braced me with the love of my Country even more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesty,
Above the fruited plains,
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carrie\u2019s courage reminded me of our call as believers: to rise above division, embrace brotherhood (and sisterhood), and reflect God\u2019s light in a world often clouded by darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s time for us to regroup and reinstate ourselves as believers in God who sits on HIS throne, and He has not turned over His authority to a man. He reigns in heaven and earth. The election and inauguration doesn\u2019t change that. There is no (D) or (R) beside God\u2019s name. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is The Great I AM!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No matter where we stand politically, our duty is clear: \u201cIf my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.\u201d 2 Chronicles 7:14<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That verse isn\u2019t just a call to prayer \u2013 it\u2019s a call to action. I am committing to that as a proud American citizen. We have daily choices of rising and shining OR rising and glooming. I\u2019ll take shining every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s pray for our leaders and speak life into our nation. I am choosing optimism. I\u2019m optimistic our good, good Father is already working on the details of this new presidency.
