I am who I am because, early on, God became my \u201cbestie.\u201d No kidding. He\u2019s been with me through every season, every joy, and every heartbreak. And even on days when I don\u2019t say much to Him, I know it\u2019s okay. Real friends don\u2019t have to talk nonstop; sometimes, just being in each other\u2019s presence is enough. That\u2019s why I practice His presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Right now, as I type this, I imagine Him sitting beside me, smiling, maybe even chuckling a little as I write, \u201cI am a friend of God.\u201d And that thought alone fills me with peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, life still happens. Bills still come, some body parts still ache, and the news is still as unpredictable as Texas weather. But my friendship with Jesus lifts me above the fray. It\u2019s the kind of friendship that holds when everything else feels shaky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s one thing for me to say God is my friend, but I want to be His friend too. Not just an acquaintance — one of His \u201cbesties.\u201d After all, we go way back — since I was eight years old at summer church camp, when I first invited Him into my heart. He\u2019s been the most faithful friend I\u2019ve ever known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The best part? He\u2019s the kind of friend who never leaves, never rolls His eyes at my ramblings, never stops caring. He listens when I need to talk. He holds my heart when life is too painful. He whispers comfort when I\u2019m afraid. And He carries my burdens when I finally stop wrestling and let Him take them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus is my everything — my Savior, my Healer, my Helper, my Shield, the Lover of my soul. And the cross proves that I\u2019m His everything too. That\u2019s what I call a \u201cbestie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And He doesn\u2019t just listen. He also nudges. He reminds me, “Now go love others like you love Me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
John 15:15 says, “I don\u2019t call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn\u2019t know what his master is doing. But I\u2019ve called you friends…”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
