In 2017, when my son turned 50, we celebrated in Zihuatanejo, Mexico — a trip full of sunshine, salsa, and a whole lot of “you only live once”. That\u2019s when my family dared me to go parasailing. No hesitation. I suited up, strapped in, and took off soaring like a bird\u2014 or so I thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But somewhere between bravery and the beach, the harness slipped and, well… let\u2019s just say my dignity started flapping in the breeze. My legs dangled like spaghetti noodles and I was painfully airborne, praying I wouldn\u2019t fall right through that contraption. I wasn’t soaring — I was suspended, squealing, and seriously reconsidering my choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It reminded me of the clothesline at our Dallas home growing up — Mama\u2019s linens flapping in the breeze like they had someplace important to go. They twisted and twirled but stayed tethered — just like I did, by the grace of God and a questionable waist strap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some days, we all feel that way. Dangling. Drifting. Like a windblown sail going nowhere. Maybe you\u2019ve lost your anchor — a spouse, a job, a child who\u2019s moved away — and now you\u2019re left holding a rope with no weight at the end. The silence is louder than a stadium. Your soul aches to hear, \u201cYou matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But let me remind you:
You do matter.
You are seen.
You\u2019re not flapping alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lord of the wind and waves sees you — right where you are. Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20, \u201cI am with you always, even to the end of the world.\u201d That\u2019s not poetic fluff. That\u2019s a lifeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Isaiah 41:10? \u201cDo not fear\u2026 I will strengthen you and help you.\u201d He will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You may be flapping, friend, but you’re not forgotten. He is your anchor, your sail, your compass — and your safe landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
