For four years, I lived with a closet light that barely did its job.
My ceilings soar over 11 feet high, so changing a bulb isn\u2019t exactly a hop-skip-and-jump kind of thing. But the bulb wasn\u2019t burned out \u2014 it was just pitifully dim. I could barely tell navy from black without holding things up to the window!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet — I put up with it. Year after year. Grumbling under my breath, sighing in frustration \u2014 but never actually doing anything about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I\u2019d had enough. I went into our maintenance portal and requested HELP with that dim light. Our wonderful maintenance team — within minutes \u2014 a bright, beautiful bulb was installed in my closet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The difference was staggering. Suddenly everything was clear, vivid, unmistakable. And it hit me \u2014 why did I wait so long?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funny how we can live that way in other parts of life, too. We get used to the dim. We accept the frustration. We complain — but never make the call. We allow darkness to be our friend instead of flipping on the Light of Jesus Who makes everything light!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My friends, please hear my heart: If you’re putting up with something that\u2019s draining your joy, clouding your vision, or leaving you stumbling around in the dark \u2014 don\u2019t just grumble about it.
Call for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the practical sense, yes \u2014 call on the handyman! But even more importantly, in the spiritual sense \u2014 call on the Holy Spirit, our ever-present Helper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever.” (John 14:16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes all it takes is a simple prayer, a moment of surrender, a little courage to admit, “Lord, I can\u2019t see clearly. Please brighten my way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let’s stop living under a dim bulb when a radiant light is only a prayer away. Don’t settle for frustration when clarity is ours for the asking. You and I don\u2019t have to live one more day in the almost-enough light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
