We all know what a U-turn is \u2014 that moment when we realize we\u2019re heading the wrong direction, and the only option is to turn around. (And maybe pray no one\u2019s watching when we make it an extra-wide turn.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But have you ever thought about the YOU-turns we need in life? The ones where we are the ones who need to turn \u2014 and it’s not just our circumstances?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes it\u2019s not the traffic that\u2019s wrong \u2014 it\u2019s our attitude. It’s the \u201cWoe-is-me,\u201d the grumbling, the \u201cWhy do they get all the blessings and I\u2019m stuck at this red light?\u201d thinking. It’s the negative thoughts that sneak in and try to stay awhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here’s the good news: God specializes in YOU-turns. He doesn\u2019t just re-route us \u2014 He transforms us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brandon Lake and Elevation Worship wrote this song and they sing it straight to our hearts:
“You turn mourning to dancing,
You give beauty for ashes,
You turn shame into glory,
You’re the only One who can.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And God doesn\u2019t stop there. He turns graves into gardens, bones into armies, and seas into highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If He can split a sea wide open for Moses, He can surely split open our stubbornness, fear, or grumpy moods and turn them into something glorious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A YOU-turn isn\u2019t a moment of shame. It\u2019s a moment of grace. It\u2019s realizing, \u201cLord, I don\u2019t want to keep driving down this dead-end road of criticism, selfishness, or doubt. I need YOU to turn me around!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Psalm 30:11 says, \u201cYOU TURNED my mourning into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe today is your YOU-turn day. I hope it’s mine too! Let’s let God do what only He can do \u2014 turn our little messes into mighty messages, our whines into worship, our negatives into newfound joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because truly, there\u2019s nothing better than Him.
