On Wednesday nights, there is no need to wait for dinner \u2013 our church offers us a delicious family meal. Last Wednesday night’s meal included the salad bar and chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans. Yum!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between our church\u2019s family meal and my Heavenly Father\u2019s daily bread \u2013 all I need to do is wait \u2013 fork in hand \u2013 trusting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, waiting seems to be the theme of my life lately. Waiting for my vehicle registration sticker before it expires. Waiting for the medical test results. Waiting for the high school graduations of our two grandchildren in a few weeks. Waiting for the weddings of two of our grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waiting. But my waiting pales next to the couple praying for an adoption call — the graduate hoping for a job offer — the family holding their breath for healing news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here’s what I\u2019m learning. Trusting God\u2019s timing isn\u2019t just a good idea \u2014 it\u2019s the only idea. Delays never catch Him off guard. In fact, they often are His plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We love quoting Jeremiah 29:11 for the words “prosper,” “hope,” and “future.” But the most reassuring part is right at the beginning:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord.
Translation? \u201cI’ve got this. Leave the driving to Me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God\u2019s guidance isn\u2019t about formulas, opinions, or striving. It\u2019s about resting in His wise, wonderful will \u2014 trusting the One who sees the full map when we\u2019re just squinting at the next mile marker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So today, I\u2019m choosing to trust in God and His Word:
\u2022 I don\u2019t know the next step, but I know the Guide. (Psalm 32:8)
\u2022 I don\u2019t know the next chapter, but I know the Author. (Hebrews 12:2)
\u2022 I don\u2019t know the best decision, but I know the Counselor. (Isaiah 9:6)
\u2022 I don\u2019t know how the need will be met, but I know the Provider. (Philippians 4:19)
\u2022 I know the One I trust, and He\u2019s never failed yet. (2 Timothy 1:12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take heart, dear friends. if God is holding the pen, the ending will be worth the wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
