Oh, mercy. I did it again. I ranted, rambled, and let my tongue run wild like it had a life of its own. The words came out faster than my good sense could catch them — and once again, I wished I had just idled my engine in neutral a little longer before shifting to drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.\u201d Proverbs 18:21<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do have thoughts. Lots of them. And opinions? Oh yes, I have a warehouse full. But sometimes I forget that not every thought needs to be spoken out loud — or at least not so quickly or so loudly. Can you relate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here\u2019s the truth: unchecked words can do real damage. That\u2019s why listening is a spiritual discipline I\u2019m asking God to grow in me….more. Because while I\u2019m busy crafting the perfect response in my head, I\u2019m missing the heart behind the words someone else is trying to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo answer before listening — that is folly and shame.\u201d Proverbs 18:13<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I speak without thinking, it\u2019s like squeezing out too much toothpaste. I can apologize, I can clean up the mess, but I can\u2019t put those words back in the tube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the grace: even when we blow it (again), God doesn\u2019t give up on us. He reminds us gently — and sometimes firmly — that He\u2019s the boss of our mouths. Not our frustration. Not our flesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So today, I\u2019m praying this out loud (with the tongue that sometimes needs a leash):
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.\u201d Psalm 19:14<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because I want my words to lift, not crush. To build, not break. To heal, not harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you\u2019ve ever said too much, too soon, too sharply — you\u2019re not alone. But thank God, He\u2019s not finished with us yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
