The U.S. Treasury just announced they\u2019re phasing out the penny by 2026. After more than 200 years of jingling in pockets, lining piggy banks, and being lost between couch cushions, it seems the little guy costs more to make than it’s worth — 3.7 cents for a 1-cent coin! A penny saved is apparently a nickel earned now. Yikes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But before we say goodbye to our copper-colored companion, let\u2019s flip it over and reflect on something far more valuable than metal. \u201cIn God We Trust\u201d isn\u2019t just a motto — it\u2019s a lifeline. In a culture that\u2019s quick to discard what seems insignificant, God reminds us that nothing is too small to matter. Not the penny. And certainly not you and me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus said in Luke 16:10, \u201cWhoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.\u201d That includes pennies\u2026 and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So the next time you spot a lonely penny on the ground, don\u2019t just walk past it. Pick it up. Smile. And whisper a prayer: \u201cLord, today, I trust You — with the big, the small, and the in-between.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let the last of the pennies be the beginning of a deeper trust. Not in gold. Not in government. But in God alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
