Yes, Jesus was sound asleep.
Not pacing. Not panicking. Not Googling \u201chow to survive a storm on the Sea of Galilee.\u201d
He was in the stern of the boat\u2026sound asleep on a pillow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the disciples were losing their ever-loving minds. Winds howling. Waves crashing. Boats rocking. Faith? Overboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t You care that we\u2019re drowning?\u201d they cried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Jesus? He got up. Not with drama. Not with a lecture. Just three simple words: \u201cPeace, be still.\u201d
And just like that\u2026 the sea hushed, the sky calmed, and fear took a back seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mark 4 reminds us that our Savior isn\u2019t shaken by the same things that shake us. He sleeps not out of indifference, but out of confidence. He knows Who\u2019s in charge. That storm? No match for the Maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So why do we freak out when our boat rocks?
Because, like the disciples, we forget who\u2019s on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Psalm 91:1 gives us our spiritual 911: \u201cWhoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.\u201d Rest. That\u2019s not just for nap time — it\u2019s for the anxious, the weary, the wondering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of us haven\u2019t truly rested in ages. We sleep with one eye open and wake up with a full agenda of \u201cwhat ifs.\u201d But dear friends, if Jesus can nap through a storm, maybe we can stop making catastrophies with every cloud on the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here\u2019s a thought: What if we curled up beside Him in the stern, fluffed up our faith pillows, and whispered, \u201cIf You\u2019re not worried, I won\u2019t be either!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\u2019s already charted the waters. He\u2019s already spoken to the storm. In fact — He’s the ultimate storm chaser!
Our job? Stay in the boat. Stay in His Word. And remember — peace doesn\u2019t always come after the storm. Sometimes, it comes in the middle of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when it does, we can rest easy — Jesus is with us — reaching out and hanging on tight to us! Don’t forget — He’s the water walker AND the way maker!
