The fireworks have faded. The skies are still. And while some homes hold sweet memories of July 4th celebrations\u2026 others, especially here in Texas, sit heavy with sorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A girls camp \u2014 nearly a century old \u2014 once echoed with laughter, and held this beautiful cross at the pinnacle of the camp, canoe races, horseback rides, riverside prayers, and new friendships. A sacred place where joy and growth came together under the canopy of summer skies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But now? Silence. And heartbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My heart aches for the families who lost their precious daughters and loved ones in the sudden floodwaters of the Guadalupe River. What began as a summer of fun turned in an instant to tragedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To the parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends now sitting in stunned grief \u2014 may the peace of God that surpasses understanding wrap around you like a blanket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.\u201d
\u2014 Psalm 34:18<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are no tidy explanations for a pain like this. No \u201cwhy\u201d that makes it make sense. But there is a truth that holds firm: God is still near.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His presence never leaves. His love never lets go. His hope doesn\u2019t dry up when the river rises. Even when your faith feels faint, He is holding you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with you\u2026\u201d
\u2014 Isaiah 43:2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This isn\u2019t Noah\u2019s flood, but it\u2019s still more than we can carry alone. That\u2019s why we don\u2019t. We carry it together \u2014 in prayer, in tears, in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We mourn with you.
We cry with you.
And we believe with you \u2014 that one day joy will return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
