It all began at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday \u2014 the kind of hour when even coffee needs coffee. Carl and I headed to the airport, hopeful and half-awake, ready for our flight to Denver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We parked, unloaded, and then came the ping. Carl\u2019s phone: \u201cFlight canceled due to storms in Dallas.\u201d Argh!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A call to the airline confirmed the story. Only option? A 17-hour detour through Philadelphia. NOT! We headed home with a new flight itinerary for the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day two. Thursday. Same story, different hour: 3:30 a.m. This time, we were routed through Chicago \u2014 a city where the airport never sleeps and no one seems to move in a straight line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hassle was real. People everywhere, announcements blaring, delays stacking. An hour late — we finally made it to Denver \u2013 weary and worn! Oh, but hold on! This story gets better.
Our angels started clocking in — seriously!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First stop after deboarding — the restroom. After taking care of \u201cbusiness\u201d, I head over to wash my hands, and a woman is holding up my phone. \u201cIs this yours?\u201d Yes. Yes, it was. Thanks, God, for one of your angels showing up!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up, the baggage shuttle. We didn\u2019t know which stop to take \u2014 but right beside us stood a Southwest employee who simply said, \u201cLast stop.\u201d I know an angel had him right there for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then a man ran after me with my sweater that had fallen to the ground: \u201cMa\u2019am, is this yours?\u201d Yep. Another winged wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we reached for a luggage cart, a couple offered theirs to us. Free of charge. That\u2019s an $8 hallelujah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we rolled up to baggage claim, and our suitcases were already circling right in front of us like they knew we were coming.<\/p>\n\n\n

Helpful hands lifted them onto the cart, and we just stood there — stunned, while acknowledging God\u2019s tender mercies and His on-assignment angels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coincidence? I don\u2019t think so. You may be thinking: \u201cObviously, Carl and Donna need a host of angels!\u201d Oh, yes, we do! And I am so thankful for them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Psalm 91:11 reminds us: \u201cHe will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.\u201d Even in airports. Even in delays. Even in crowds or by ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, here\u2019s my reminder \u2014 and maybe yours too: Angels are still on assignment. Watch for them. Smile back. Say thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
