Ever looked at a couple and thought, \u201cHow did THEY ever get together?\u201d Tall woman \u2013 short man? Talkative husband \u2013 quiet wife? Aw! Viva la difference! God\u2019s recipe for unity was never about sameness. Romans 12:4-5 spells it out beautifully:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ\u2019s body — we all belong to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s the differences — la difference! — that make life and relationships not only interesting but lasting. We\u2019re wired uniquely on purpose and for a purpose. It\u2019s way more exciting that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Think about baking a cake. No one\u2019s sneaking spoonfuls of flour and cocoa or sipping vanilla extract straight from the bottle. But when those oddball ingredients are mixed together with a little heat — voil\u00e0! Dessert is served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same goes for us. Sweet, salty, bold, bitter, and even a little nutty — we\u2019re better when blended together for God\u2019s glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some people shine on center stage — bold and booming with vision and voice. Others are more the behind-the-scene types — steady, faithful, making sure the microphones work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One can\u2019t do it without the other. We may function differently, but no one\u2019s dispensable. And when we stop competing and start completing each other? That\u2019s when the Church becomes unstoppable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I love the old Russ Taff song that says:
“You\u2019re my brother, you\u2019re my sister — so take me by the hand — together we will work \u2018til He comes — there\u2019s no foe that can defeat us when we\u2019re walking side by side — as long as there is love we will stand!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it\u2019s true. God didn\u2019t create cookie-cutter Christians. He created a dynamic, diverse, delightfully blended body — meant to reflect His kingdom on earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, here\u2019s the secret ingredient: unity in diversity, seasoned with love. Let\u2019s celebrate each other\u2019s strengths, laugh at our quirks, and carry each other\u2019s burdens. When the world sees that kind of love in action, they\u2019ll want a taste, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
