Let\u2019s be honest \u2014 we live in a world chasing highs. The caffeine high. The sugar high. The shopping high. And don’t forget the thrill-seekers jumping out of airplanes, scaling mountains, or impulse-ordering from late-night infomercials. We\u2019re all trying to feel something more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the truth I\u2019ve come to know deep in my soul:
There is no high like the Most High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No buzz from Starbucks can compare to the joy and peace of the presence of God. No adrenaline rush can match the soul-deep satisfaction. No perfectly-seared creme brulee can equal this experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I remember once hearing someone say, \u201cI tried everything to fill the void \u2014 until I let God fill it.\u201d Oh, how I nodded in agreement. We look to people, positions, possessions \u2014 but none of it ever quite reaches the aching places of the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Psalm 16:11 says it best: \u201cIn Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.\u201d That\u2019s not a temporary thrill. That\u2019s a full-on, lasting, peace-that-passes-understanding kind of high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spending time in God\u2019s Word? High.
Singing in church and raising my hands in worship? High.
Praying with a friend and sensing God show up? HIGH!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s not hype. It\u2019s not a gimmick. It\u2019s the Most High God filling the lowest parts of us. He lifts us up. He reminds us who we are. He sets us on solid ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us: \u201cBut those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles\u2026\u201d Now that\u2019s a spiritual high-flyer if I\u2019ve ever seen one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, dear friends, the next time you’re feeling low\u2026
Don\u2019t reach for the remote. Reach for the Redeemer.
Get high on hope, peace, joy, and everlasting love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
