Carl and I mark our second anniversary today, August 8th. Now, that might not make headlines — especially for those inching toward 50 or more years — but to us, it\u2019s a BIG deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who would\u2019ve thought, after I spent over 13 years as a widow and Carl spent 7 years missing his sweetheart, that God would bring us together?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What started as \u201csweet friendship\u201d quickly bloomed into something deeper — dinner dates, musicals, great restaurants, and within nine months, a wedding that surprised even us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me tell you — later-in-life love isn\u2019t for the faint of heart. We\u2019re still in the honeymoon phase of figuring out sleep routines, food preferences, thermostats, and other quirks. But what joy it is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each morning, we read God\u2019s Word aloud and pray — individually, out loud \u2013 gratitude to God for His many blessings, for our family, friends, and for God to show us who to love, help, and encourage. That sacred rhythm keeps our hearts soft, our laughter frequent, and our purpose clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the world may treat marriage as optional or outdated, we embrace it as a God-ordained gift, no matter the season. We said \u201cI do\u201d not just to each other — but to God’s plan for us: companionship, covenant, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I remember years ago; a widowed friend told me she was remarrying after a short courtship. When I blinked in surprise, she smiled and said, \u201cTime is not on our side!\u201d Those words stuck. So, when Carl asked me to marry him, I didn\u2019t blink — I just said \u201cYES!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So here we are — celebrating two years \u2013 still with giddy hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today we\u2019re traveling to Lubbock, Texas — Carl\u2019s beloved hometown and alma mater (Go Red Raiders!). But more than football, it\u2019s family that draws us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We celebrated his dad\u2019s side of the family last June at our Noble Family Reunion and, this weekend, it\u2019s his mama\u2019s side \u2013 the Mize Family Reunion \u2013 all of whom I\u2019ve grown to love deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To those still waiting for love, or learning to live again after loss, hear this: God isn\u2019t finished! He writes new chapters — sweet, surprising ones filled with love, laughter, and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re living proof. And we\u2019re just getting started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
