<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nHe likes the thermostat at that temperature. I like it there. He is a comedian — I’m not! I’m the one who laughs again and again even though I’ve heard those same stories and jokes a hundred times! He prefers steak. I prefer chicken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So….I came up with the best plan. I\u2019ll smile at him and say, \u201cJust do you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God didn\u2019t make us carbon copies. He made us with quirks, preferences, talents, and even stubborn streaks that make us\u2026 us. When handled with grace and humor, those differences can make a relationship stronger, not weaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wasn\u2019t always this easy for me. As a teenager, I longed to look and act like the \u201cpopular\u201d drill team and cheerleader girls. They had curves –while I was built like a broomstick. They were outgoing — I was shy. They had silky blonde hair — I had dishwater colored hair!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But somewhere along the way, I had an aha moment! God didn\u2019t make me to be them or anyone else. He made me to be me. And He doesn\u2019t make mistakes. Psalm 139 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. That means our height, our hair color, our laugh, our way of thinking — was intentional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust Do You\u201d doesn\u2019t mean refusing to grow or change where needed. It means not bending ourselves into a pretzel to be someone else. It\u2019s being confident in who God created us to be, while giving others the same grace to be who they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So whether we\u2019re in a marriage, a friendship, a family, or a church — remember: it\u2019s okay to see things differently. It\u2019s okay to have opposite opinions on ice cream flavors or furniture placement. It\u2019s okay to have quirks. It’s okay to be YOU!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because God made you and me to be….YOU and ME! And the world needs exactly that. So……JUST DO YOU — the one God made YOU to be!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
