Letting go isn\u2019t easy. Whether it\u2019s treasured times, treasured people, treasured routines, or treasured traditions — there\u2019s a little tug at the heart every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the truth I\u2019ve come to know: those treasures — good and not-so-good — are threads in the fabric of our lives. Without them, the tapestry wouldn\u2019t be the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, \u201cTo everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.\u201d And oh, haven\u2019t we all lived through some seasons that felt like a roller coaster without brakes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bible is full of \u201cletting go\u201d moments:
Jonathan and David — best friends — parted ways.
Moses\u2019 mother — heart in her throat — placed her baby in a basket and sent him downriver.
Jesus — leaving heaven — came to earth to rescue us.
Mary — letting go of her Son — so He could fulfill His calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve been letting go for a long time. Watching my children grow up and start families of their own. Saying goodbye to friends who drifted to other seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Letting go can feel like losing a part of ourselves — but here\u2019s the beautiful part: God doesn\u2019t just take something from us. He makes room for what\u2019s next. He strengthens us to bend without breaking. He turns our \u201chow will I ever get through this?\u201d into \u201clook what He\u2019s brought me through!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Romans 8:37 reminds us: \u201cIn all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.\u201d Letting go is really a moment-by-moment choice to put it all — control, worry, doubt, fear — into God\u2019s capable hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here\u2019s the funny thing — when we finally unclench our fists, we realize the freedom is worth it. We can be human beings instead of human doings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isaiah 55:8-9 says His ways are higher than ours. I don\u2019t have to figure it all out. I just have to trust Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes the hardest part isn\u2019t holding on –it\u2019s letting go.
