One of the most important lessons of my life has been this: It\u2019s not about me.<\/em> (Whew! What a relief.) Philippians 1:11 says we are \u201cfilled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ\u2014to the glory and praise of God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means the good in my life? God started it, and He\u2019s the One who\u2019ll finish it. The love that sometimes overflows in me? That\u2019s not me being extra sweet \u2014 that\u2019s God Himself at work, sprinkling His love where mine would\u2019ve run out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I ever make a wise decision (and trust me, I\u2019ve made plenty of not-so-wise ones), that\u2019s not about my cleverness. That\u2019s the Spirit nudging me in the right direction. If I manage to do something pure, blameless, or even remotely good \u2014 that\u2019s not Donna\u2019s r\u00e9sum\u00e9 shining. That\u2019s God\u2019s grace on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, don\u2019t get me wrong. We\u2019re not puppets on a string. God invites us to participate in His master plan. We listen, we obey, we pray, we step out in faith. But even then, it\u2019s His power carrying us forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the freeing part: I don\u2019t have to keep up the exhausting game of comparison. My body, my age, my bank account, my holiness \u2014 all those things that tempt me to measure myself against others \u2014 they don\u2019t tell the story. God does. And the story always points back to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, every good thing in my life (and yours) \u2014 the love, the wisdom, the joy, the blessings \u2014 isn\u2019t proof that we\u2019ve \u201carrived.\u201d It\u2019s proof that God is faithful. That He finishes what He starts. That He gives gifts beyond what we could ever earn or deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when all is said and done, we\u2019ll look back and realize every bit of it was \u201cfor the glory and praise of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So today, let\u2019s breathe a little easier. It\u2019s not about me. It\u2019s not about you. It\u2019s about the God who makes His goodness shine through<\/em> us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery good thing in my life? That\u2019s God\u2019s fingerprints, not mine. It\u2019s not about me \u2014 it\u2019s about Him.
