From years ago, I remember singing these words by Carlis Moody:
\u201cLord, I’m available to you
My will I give to you
I’ll do what you say do
Use me Lord to show someone the way
And enable me to say,
I am available to you \u2013 Use me Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I never want to say \u201cno\u201d to God. If He calls my name, I don\u2019t want to be caught lounging in my recliner with my feet propped up, remote in one hand, and a bowl of popcorn in the other. No, I want to be up, alert, and ready to shout: \u201cHere and accounted for!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a little like baseball. I don\u2019t want to be sitting on the bench when I\u2019m supposed to be at the plate. Life may throw me a fastball, a curveball, or one of those slow floaters that looks easy but still surprises me. My job is to step up, grip the bat of faith, and be willing to swing when God says, \u201cNow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isaiah answered that call when God asked, \u201cWhom shall I send, and who will go for us?\u201d Isaiah replied, \u201cHere am I! Send me!\u201d (Isaiah 6:8). That\u2019s the availability I long to live with \u2014 not perfect skills, but a willing heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s be honest, sometimes God\u2019s nudge comes at inconvenient times. Right when I finally get cozy in my chair or when the phone rings, and I\u2019d rather pretend I didn\u2019t hear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Romans 12:1 reminds us to \u201coffer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.\u201d Availability often looks like setting aside comfort for calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The good news? God isn\u2019t looking for home-run hitters. He\u2019s looking for people who show up, who say \u201cyes\u201d when asked, who trust Him with the pitch. Philippians 4:13 promises, \u201cI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.\u201d That includes the fast balls of challenge, the curve balls of change, and even the slow balls of waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, when God calls, may He always hear from us: \u201cLord, I\u2019m available to You.\u201d Bat in hand, eyes on Him, ready for the next pitch. \u201cHere am I, send me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
