But, this day I’d like to use MEND in capital letters.

I remember my mama mending a tear in my dress. Mending means to make something worn, torn, or otherwise damaged usable by repairing, restoring or fixing.

The news of Charlie Kirk’s passing still weighs heavy on our hearts. A husband, a father, a brave man of faith — his love for family, his devotion to God, and his determination to lead with courage have left a mark that will not fade.

Online tributes flow like rivers, each one testifying to his bravery and his bright light. His wife Erika and their children are surrounded by prayers, tears, and gratitude for the life he lived.

But here we are. Still here. Which means we aren’t done. Charlie’s life reminds us that we have a choice — to carry the torch of love, or to let bitterness take root. He showed us that faith is not silent. It speaks in how we live, how we treat others, and how we stand for truth with grace.

So how do we mend and heal? We start by following the words of Jesus: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)

Love heals. Love lifts. Love prays for leaders instead of mocking them. Love extends a hand when it would be easier to point a finger.

We live in a world that can be sharp and mean, but we can choose gentleness. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21) That’s how Charlie lived. That’s how Jesus lived. That’s how we can live too.

Mending begins with small steps — applauding the good, encouraging the young, praying for our nation, and choosing kindness over cruelty. When our hearts are tender toward God, they become tender toward people.

Charlie’s legacy is not one of despair but of determination. He reminded us that we are called to be lights in a dark world (Matthew 5:14). And when one light goes out on earth, millions more can shine brighter because of it.

Let’s love greater than ever before. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s the way of Christ. Mending starts with love. Let’s honor Charlie’s legacy by loving deeper, praying harder, and shining brighter.

#LoveGreater #BeTheLight #HealingFaith

We don’t use the word “mend” very much these days.
