Do you remember the Etch A Sketch? That shiny red rectangle with two little white knobs that could entertain a kid for hours. One knob made horizontal lines, the other made vertical lines, and if we turned them together \u2014 it seemed like a miracle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suddenly, we were artists creating crooked houses, lopsided hearts, and endless squiggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the real amazement? We could turn it upside down, give it a little shake, and \u2014 poof \u2014 every mistake vanished. A clean screen. A fresh start. Whoohoo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s been 65 years since the Etch A Sketch hit toy shelves, and while technology has skyrocketed since then \u2014 smartphones, video games \u2014 nothing beats that satisfying shake and clean slate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And honestly, isn\u2019t that exactly what God does for us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Psalm 103:10\u201312 says, \u201cHe does not treat us as our sins deserve — as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.\u201d God wipes the whole screen clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We mess up \u2014 impatience, envy, sour attitude, grumpy, wimpy, whiny AND sharp words we wish we could take back. But the moment we turn to God and confess, apologize and receive His grace — He turns our messy red box upside down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
THEN. Gone. Erased. Not counted against us. “Old things passed away — all things become new, ” (2 Corinthians 5:17)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
John reminds us, \u201cIf we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.\u201d (1 John 1:9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear friends — maybe today you\u2019re staring at a screen full of regrets, shame, or \u201cI wish I hadn\u2019t.\u201d Here\u2019s the good news: God\u2019s grace gives you a brand-new canvas. His mercy is not limited by how messy the picture has been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So go ahead \u2014 hand Him your Etch A Sketch heart. Let Him shake loose the guilt, wipe away the past, and draw something beautiful and brand new. His mercies are \u201cnew every morning.\u201d (Lamentations 3:23)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aren\u2019t we so thankful that our Creator is also the ultimate Re-creator?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God shakes the slate clean. \u201cAs far as the east is from the west\u2026\u201d (Psalm 103:12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
