We\u2019re back home in Austin after a most blessed few days in Nashville for my granddaughter\u2019s wedding \u2014 and yes, I\u2019m still floating <\/a>somewhere between joy and exhaustion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But today, before I start humming again, I\u2019m pausing to simply be \u2014 to soak in all that God created us to be and to realize just how incredibly blessed we are. Sometimes the best songs aren\u2019t sung on stage — they\u2019re lived out in gratitude, grace, and the goodness of another brand-new day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But things can\u2019t always be perfect. It took flying to Nashville for me to gaze out the airplane window at those cotton-candy clouds (the kind that make you want to grab a spoon). I couldn\u2019t help but think \u2014 what a peaceful view!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 30,000 feet, everything looks calm and orderly. You can\u2019t see the traffic jams or breaking news headlines. You\u2019re just cocooned in quiet, surrounded by billowy clouds and blue sky \u2014 a temporary haven above the chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wouldn\u2019t it be nice to live with that view every day? To rise above the noise, the news, and the nonsense? I\u2019d love that! But God didn\u2019t design us to live above life. He placed us right in the middle of it \u2014 mess, mission, and all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And sometimes that \u201cmiddle of life\u201d shows up as a four-hour layover at the Dallas\/Fort Worth airport \u2014 courtesy of storms that grounded flights and tested patience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But even there, grace made an appearance — right between Gate 5 and Panda Express. With orange chicken on our plates and laughter in the air, peace found us in the middle of the storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God reminded me that His grace isn\u2019t just for mountaintops or milestones \u2014 it\u2019s for layovers, too. (And yes, I wrote this very blog from the sitting area of Gate 5!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s true, we\u2019re told to have \u201cthe peace that passes understanding\u201d (Philippians 4:7), but peace isn\u2019t found by escaping the world \u2014 it\u2019s found by carrying heaven\u2019s calm into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world doesn\u2019t need more noise \u2014 it needs more light. And we, dear friends, are here on assignment. To see what the Father sees, love how the Father loves, and live in a way that makes people say, \u201cThey\u2019ve got their Father\u2019s eyes \u2014 and His heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
