Sunday afternoon was supposed to be a quiet one \u2014 me writing my next blog, Carl watching the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders game. I could hear him in the other room hollering, \u201cYou\u2019ve GOT to see this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thought, “Wow, it must be a nail-biter!” So I walked in, ready for a game-winning touchdown\u2026 only to find Carl glued to a Madden NFL video game simulation on YouTube! \ud83d\ude02 The graphics were so real \u2014 the same players, same plays, even the same uniforms. He was absolutely convinced it was the real deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bless his heart \u2014 he was cheering, clapping, and totally invested. I hated to break the news, but when the \u201cplayers\u201d started moving like bobbleheads, we both burst into laughter. The real game was still in progress and the real Cowboys won! Yippee!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, I couldn\u2019t help but think\u2026 isn\u2019t that just like life sometimes? We get worked up over things that look real but aren\u2019t \u2014 the what-ifs, the headlines, the fears that play out in our minds like bad re-runs. We worry about things that may never happen, replaying \u201cgames\u201d that already ended in victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Romans 8:28 reminds us, \u201cAll things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.\u201d That means even our simulated fears, our false alarms, our unnecessary stress \u2014 God can take it all and turn it for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So the next time you find yourself shouting at the screen of life \u2014 thinking it\u2019s all falling apart \u2014 remember: God\u2019 has the real remote. He knows the final score, and spoiler alert \u2014 we win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carl\u2019s \u201cfake football game\u201d gave us a good laugh and a great reminder: things aren\u2019t always what they seem. But when we trust God\u2019s playbook, the outcome is always worth cheering for. \ud83d\ude4c<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes what looks real isn\u2019t \u2014 but God\u2019s promises always are — and we win!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
