I watched my dear Larry (Staci’s husband — my bonus son), speak to his daughter on the eve of her wedding. As he looked at her, his voice wobbled and the tears started to flow. And, his first look at her the next day — adorned in her beautiful wedding gown — those tears flowed even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And let me tell you \u2014 I love seeing a strong, bold man turn into mush when it comes to his family.

My own husband, Carl, has been known to tear up, too. And honestly? I\u2019m here for it. I once heard a man describe himself as \u201cemotionally incontinent.\u201d He said he could cry at the drop of a hat over his newborn baby, his love for his wife, a touching movie, or the goodness of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I chuckled at the phrase, but he\u2019s right \u2014 sometimes our hearts just overflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s something sacred about tears. They show that strength and tenderness can coexist. I\u2019ve watched videos of military homecomings where dads drop their duffel bags and scoop up their kids mid-sob. Cue the waterworks! Those tears remind us of sacrifice, love, and the cost of freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even Jesus wept \u2014 and the Gospel writers didn\u2019t hide it. The Son of God Himself cried at the tomb of a friend. If the Savior of the world could shed tears, surely we can, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll admit it \u2014 I\u2019m a certified cry baby. I carry tissues in my purse like a badge of honor. It doesn\u2019t take much \u2014 worship music, weddings, birthdays, new babies, grandkids\u2019 milestones, heartfelt notes, or even a video of a rescued puppy \u2014 and suddenly my eyes are leaking again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the tears that get me every time are the ones that come when I see grace in action \u2014 when a broken life collides with the love of Jesus. When the addict becomes free. When the liar becomes truthful. When the ashamed stand tall because mercy found them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those tears aren\u2019t weakness \u2014 they\u2019re worship. They\u2019re gratitude spilling over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, yes \u2014 I\u2019m emotionally incontinent. I\u2019ll cry over grace any day, because some love is just too big to keep inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go ahead, friends \u2014 grab the tissues. Heaven\u2019s not keeping score\u2026 but I think God smiles every time a tear rolls down a thankful cheek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some tears are holy. Let grace move you, melt you, and make you new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
