Yesterday, Carl and I made the road trip to Tulsa \u2014 my old stomping grounds for over 40 years \u2014 to hug the necks of dear friends who\u2019ve walked some of life\u2019s winding roads with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, the memories we rolled back! Weddings, babies, healings, answered prayers, and those precious late-night talks that seemed to last a holy lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First stop — my longtime BFFs, Mick and Sheila Michie \u2014 a couple who was there for us through storms, celebrated our victories, and fed us more than one meal seasoned with laughter and grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we walked into their beautiful home, it wasn\u2019t to unload our worries or share a list of requests. We came bearing treats, hugs, and gratitude for years of friendship that\u2019s stood the test of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, the yummy meal they served us was fit for a queen and king! The conversation flowed easily. We caught up on family news, laughed until we cried, and shared how good God has been to us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We didn\u2019t need to talk about the hard times; we just looked around and saw the fruit of faithfulness \u2014 children grown, grandchildren growing up and even some married, miracles multiplied, and the sweet reminder that God restores and blesses in His perfect timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It reminded me of how our relationship with God should be \u2014 not just running to Him with our \u201chelp me\u201d lists but showing up with thankful hearts, ready to sit awhile and say, \u201cLord, You\u2019ve been so good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Can you imagine how much joy that must bring to the heart of our Heavenly Father? The One who calls us not just servants, but friends. (John 15:15) He loves when we come to Him \u2014 not just for provision, but for conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carl is my earthly rock, my partner in every good thing, but God is my truest and most faithful friend. And just like those years of sweet fellowship in Tulsa, I can almost hear Him say, \u201cPull up a chair \u2014 let\u2019s talk awhile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Romans 5:11 says it best: \u201cWe can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that, my friend, is worth celebrating \u2014 in Tulsa, or anywhere His goodness finds us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
