Our weekend in Tulsa was a walk through memory lane \u2014 and a celebration of God\u2019s unwavering faithfulness. The highlight of our visit was witnessing my godson\u2019s sister, Grace, marry the love of her life. Grace — a beautiful name — and what a picture of God\u2019s grace Saturday turned out to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Parish of Christ the King, a church filled to the brim with people who had watched this couple grow in faith and beauty. They were friends for a very long time and that friendship blossomed in beauty as they fell in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Years ago, I had the privilege of being Grace’s confirmation sponsor \u2014 and sitting there, I couldn\u2019t help but think, This is what faithfulness and devotion to our Lord looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As vows were exchanged, I thought of Psalm 100:5: \u201cFor the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And oh, how true that felt. I remembered those early days when Grace’s younger brother \u2014 my godson, Owen \u2014 came into this world fighting for his life. We stood with that family, praying, believing, trusting.

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And now, here he is, a confident, thriving college student at the University of Tulsa \u2014 whole, healed, and smiling from ear to ear. Then he did something that completely melted my heart: he asked me to dance. Be still, my heart. \ud83d\udc95<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reception was a picture of joy \u2014 elegant tables, delicious food, and a dance floor full of life. From the bride and groom\u2019s first dance to the parents\u2019 tender moments and finally all of us dancing like no one was watching \u2014 it was sacred celebration in motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I couldn\u2019t help but think of The Chosen scene where Jesus dances at the wedding feast, laughing and rejoicing. I imagine Heaven\u2019s joy looks a lot like that. And it was heaven on earth — embracing long time friendships of so many when we lived in Tulsa for 40+ years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking around the room, I saw children now grown, marriages blooming, the miracle working power of a dear friend who had a heart transplant 4-1\/2 years ago — still thriving and soon to be a grandmother. Faith is still alive in every generation. My heart swelled with gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.\u201d \u2014 Lamentations 3:22-23<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, how good is our God \u2014 the Faithful One through every season. And the best part? The celebration has only just begun \u2014 it lasts from here to eternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
