Do you have negative thoughts about yourself? Do you fall prey to the tactics of the enemy who tells you — “You are a loser” — “You’ll never amount to anything” — “You won’t make it!” Ugh!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I remember learning — slowly and sometimes stubbornly — that the real battleground isn\u2019t out there. It\u2019s right between my ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Winning the battle of the mind changes everything. Peace shows up. Joy stays longer. And goodness and mercy feel a lot more at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David said it best: \u201cI HAVE MADE UP MY MIND to obey Your laws forever, no matter what.\u201d (Psalm 119:112)
That\u2019s not wishful thinking — that\u2019s a ROCK-SOLID decision!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If managing our minds were easy, none of us would ever replay old conversations, worry at 3 a.m., or mentally rewrite yesterday. The truth is, we\u2019re up against three persistent opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, there\u2019s our old nature. Paul admitted it out loud: \u201cThere is another power within me that is at war with my mind.\u201d (Romans 7:23) Ever do the very thing you swore you wouldn\u2019t do again? Welcome to the human race!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second, there\u2019s the enemy of our souls. He can\u2019t make us do anything — but he\u2019s excellent at suggestions. He whispers discouragement, doubt, and fear. He\u2019ll use headlines, social media, or that quiet moment when we\u2019re tired and vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No wonder our minds get weary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the good news — we are not defenseless. \u201cWe take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.\u201d (2 Corinthians 10:5) That means our minds don\u2019t run the show — we do, with God\u2019s help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God gave us not only a mind, but a will. And willpower anchored in truth is powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I\u2019ve made up my mind. I\u2019m choosing what gets airtime in my thoughts. I\u2019m tuning in to what\u2019s true, noble, lovely, and life-giving. I\u2019m listening to the voice of the Savior — not the thief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve got my battle gear on, and I\u2019m in it to win it!
After all, Jesus didn\u2019t come to steal our peace — He came to give us abundant life. (John 10:10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
