I\u2019ve become a speed reader.
Not just with emails and text messages — but with my Bible. And that\u2019s when I have to stop and scold myself a little — because the Word of God is not a checklist. It\u2019s not a \u201cget-it-done\u201d assignment. It\u2019s a love letter from the One who knows my name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But if I\u2019m not careful, I\u2019ll skim through holy words like I’m scrolling through social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My Bible is my \u201cgo-to\u201d place for wisdom, comfort, and direction. I have favorite passages marked, highlighted, and even memorized. And that\u2019s the problem — familiarity can breed carelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes I read a verse and think, Yep, Got it. Next.
And somewhere in the unseen realm, the enemy whispers, \u201cPerfect. Don\u2019t slow down. Don\u2019t let that sink in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BUT — if we actually soaked in God\u2019s words\u2026 we\u2019d be changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s why I\u2019m stirred up about 1 Corinthians 13 — the greatest description of love ever written. We hear it at weddings, usually while someone is crying into a tissue and the photographer is snapping pictures like paparazzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But these words aren\u2019t just wedding poetry. They are marching orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLove IS patient and kind\u2026\u201d
Not love feels patient. Love acts patient. Love shows up!
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast”
“Love is not arrogant or rude.”
“Love does not insist on its own way (oh me, how many times did I miss that one?)
“Love is not irritable or resentful”
“Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth” “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then Jesus takes it even further and says, \u201cLove your enemies.\u201d (Matthew 5:44)
But He didn\u2019t just command love — He demonstrated it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile we were still sinners, Christ died for us.\u201d (Romans 5:8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So when people are difficult, rude, ungrateful, or downright hurtful — we may not feel love, but we can still DO love.
Love isn\u2019t just something we feel\u2026 it\u2019s something we DO.
God didn\u2019t just talk about love — He proved it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love is an action word. Today, let\u2019s show up with love — even when it’s not easy! \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n
