Carl and I just wrapped up two weeks of Early Voting and yesterday’s Election Day itself. Long days. Early mornings. Lots of smiles. And a whole lot of red, white, and blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s something sacred about watching people vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young parents with babies on their hips. Seniors walking slowly — some with canes — others with wheel chairs — and all were relentless and determined to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Workers, including us, slipping in before our shift. Early voters who beat the rush \u2014 and late early voters who met the rush with very long lines. But here\u2019s what amazed me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No complaining. Just determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We weren\u2019t discussing party lines or debating platforms. We were united in something simple \u2014 gratitude. Gratitude that we get to vote on a sunshine-filled Texas day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve heard it before: \u201cWhat difference does my one little vote make?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s true. It takes time. Research. Waiting in line. And statistically? One vote feels small.
But so does one prayer.
And we still pray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voting isn\u2019t about control \u2014 it\u2019s about stewardship. My faith shapes my values. And my values shape my vote. I don\u2019t shout my political opinions from rooftops. I try to weigh them quietly, prayerfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I step up to vote, I\u2019m listening for that Voice.
And when it\u2019s all counted? God is not pacing Heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe LORD can control a king\u2019s mind as He controls a river.\u201d (Proverbs 21:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His throne is still occupied. His purposes still unfold. His sovereignty has never depended on an election result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we don\u2019t vote, we really shouldn\u2019t complain. But if we do vote \u2014 we can rest. Because as followers of Jesus, our hope is not in red or blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s in the One who reigns above it all.
\u201cDo not fear, for I am with you\u2026 I will strengthen you and uphold you.\u201d (Isaiah 41:10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We serve our country. We participate. We cast our vote.
We pray. We trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
