I\u2019ll confess something right up front.
I\u2019m not very good at keeping secrets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, I try. But give me a delightful surprise — like a party, a gift, or some exciting news — and it practically bubbles right out of me. I\u2019ve been known to accidentally spill the beans about a surprise party before the candles were even lit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And if I\u2019m being really honest, I may have been the kid who quietly opened my Christmas presents early — then carefully rewrapped them so my mom wouldn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So when I read the story about the people Jesus healed who couldn\u2019t keep quiet, I completely understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Jesus healed a deaf man, the Bible says:
\u201cHe ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more He ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it.\u201d (Mark 7:36)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I suspect I would have been right there with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes Jesus asked people to stay quiet because crowds could misunderstand His mission. If word spread too quickly, people might chase the miracles instead of the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet, when the leper Jesus healed told everyone what had happened, the crowds became so large that Jesus \u201ccould no longer enter a town openly.\u201d (Mark 1:45)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even so, Jesus moved quietly and faithfully toward the greater miracle still to come. He knew the real moment for the news to break would arrive soon enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In less than two weeks, we\u2019ll enter Holy Week — the story of the cross, the empty tomb, and the greatest victory the world has ever known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And here\u2019s the wonderful part — the secret is out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because of the resurrection, we are no longer asked to keep quiet. We are witnesses to the finished work of God\u2019s salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So if you\u2019re like me — an awkward secret-keeper — this is one secret we’re allowed to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, we\u2019re encouraged to shout it from the rooftops.
Or in my case\u2026 maybe from social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JESUS HEALS!!
JESUS SAVES!!
JESUS LIVES!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s simply too good to keep to ourselves!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, dear Lord, bless those around the world who must still whisper Your name in secret. Give them courage, protection, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As for me\u2026I\u2019m grateful this is one secret I can tell!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
