Get Ready for a Blessed Day

Get Ready for a Blessed Day

November 8, 2022 Off By Donna Wuerch Noble

“Have a good one!” “Have a great day!” “Have a terrific day.” We’ve all heard and said those words, in one form or another. Then there are those of us who take it to a HIGHER level and say, “Have a blessed day!”

We even say it with the words ringing in our ears: “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!” (Psalm 118:24). We woke up! We are breathing! We are vertical! We brushed our own teeth and even dressed ourselves. It is a good, good day!

You and I are VIPs today — that’s because we are voters.. Some of us have already cast our ballot. Good for you! Franklin Roosevelt was right: “Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.” So let’s pray, seek God’s wisdom, and vote.

I’ll be serving again at an Election Polling Place with these words in my heart: “This is the day the Lord has made…..” as the long lines of excited voters make their way into the building. They will be greeted and directed to the clerks who collect their voter’s photo ids which provide their voting registration. They’ll receive their voting ballot and complete it via the voting machines. Once their ballots are completed, they’ll be directed to the crème de la crème location. They’ll insert their ballot into the double-locked ballot machine.

I respectfully call the ballot machine, “Big Boy”! Big Boy (officially, the DS200 Precinct Scanner unit) stores the votes and with its internal memory…..tallies all the votes. One of those votes is yours, if you vote today, or maybe yours in the Early Voting over the last two weeks.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ll be happy when this day is over. I’ll be thrilled all the campaign signs will be removed from streets and yards. The negative ads that dominated our airwaves and the latest polls will be over. At the end of this day, regardless of who is elected, this day will have been a blessed, good day.

What DOES a good day look like to you? Does it depend on all wins and no losses? BTW – speaking of wins “CONGRATS to the Houston Astros World Series win on Saturday night!” I was rooting for our Texas team! What a game! Sorry….I just took a rabbit trail….again!

Back to a good day – does that mean sunshine and no rain? Is it a day when all is calm and only smooth sailing? Is it just laughter and no tears? Is it making progress and no setbacks? Is it only exciting times with no disappointments? What DOES a good day look like?

A GOOD Day has G-O-D in it — no matter what that day holds. God in our day; God in our heart; God in our circumstances; God in our valleys; God in our mountaintops; God in our joys; God in our sorrows; God in our trials; God in our triumphs; God in our need; God in our abundance.

ANY day is a GOOD, blessed day when we are mindful that God Who holds our yesterdays, todays and tomorrows is with us. He is for us. He provides for us, equips us, and fills us with His peace, comfort, and joy in our EVERY day! I will count my blessings.

Now, let’s go out there and have a good, great, fantastic, BLESSED day! After all, God made this day for us. He is smack dab in the middle of it so we might as well jump wholeheartedly into this day and make it the BEST one EVER!
