God Does the Carrying
Yesterday, my blog was entitled “Do You Carry?” I asked that question of Brownwood TX owner of Underwood’s Buffet when I saw two black boxes on his hips. I was asking if he was carrying guns.
It is troublesome to know that someone, other than officers of the law, would have a need to “carry”. It is also of concern that we would carry such heavy spiritual, physical and mental issues – especially when we have a God Who CARRIES US!
Here’s to really GOOD NEWS! God CARRIES His children. That’s you and me! Even before we were born, God was carrying us. He is carrying us now and has promised to continue to carry us into our old age and beyond.
“Even to your old age, I am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you.
– Isaiah 46:4
Glory be! He’s talking about me at this mature age and He is talking about you in your young, tender age. It is easy to forget in life that we are being held in the hands of God. All too often we let trivial problems and petty arguments cloud our vision of what really matters.
Impossible-looking situations make us think we are on our own, fighting to survive in the world and struggling to thrive by our lonesome selves. Except, we are not alone. God is carrying us.
Why is it easy for God to carry us? Because He made us. God knows everything about us, and He loves us. He cares for us more than we care for ourselves.
Listen to what Jesus has to say about us in Luke 12:6-7, “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Imagine that! The same God Who knows the number of stars in the sky and the number of grains in sand, also knows the number of hairs on our head. There are billions of people in the world, but not one of them is forgotten before God.
The same God Who made thousands of galaxies, numerous planets, oxygen and atoms, Mount Everest, and the Pacific Ocean, also made you and me! In fact, He is carrying us right now and forever.
So, go ahead. Lay down that heavy load you are carrying. Give it all to the ONE who is carrying you. He has big shoulders and no weight is too big for Him!
